This is wierd. Saddam Husain is on trial for an offence that he could never be convicted for. The ultimate penalty is death. How can threatening to kill himslef have any political or legal effect if the court would like to sentence him to death. I say: Let the bastard starve! It certainly seems like a win/win situation to me. But if he is to be executed (not that I am for executions) it would be better for us to do it on our own terms and not let him have the choice. That's the whole point of the punishment, he's supposed to not want to die. If he freely gives up his life, it's just going to be a government sponsored euthenasia.
