I recently got a new comp with a preformatted HD with the intent to throw a dual boot environment on it. XP and Linux 9. I was cruisin along, everything was partitioned well, xp worked, and 9 installed. I used GRUB to load the two and all went well till I tried to boot up linux. Aparently the little bastard will load all the way up to "starting firstboot:" then stops. I've done everything I can think of- startx, trying to log in, alt-ctrl-+, It takes these commands and doesn't process them. I don't even believe my system has started.
I've done a lot of research and I found a few people out there with the same problem- and our only link was our video card: the geforce fx 5600. Any Linux junkies out there with any idea? I'm pisssed!!

    Yes... Quite...

I'm assuming you're using RedHat? Mandrake? Try a different distribution. I suggest Debian or Gentoo.
