View Full Version : SG1 & Farscape
CounslerCoffee 01-10-03, 06:29 PM Alrighty, yall all know that new episodes of Farscape and Stargate SG-1 come on tonight. I want the general comments in this thread. Like what you thought was cool, what you thought sucked, or "OW! Did you see that?"
Please post.:) And give opinions, and before anything else is said, Thor, shut up.:)
*EDIT* Im making this a sticky until the new seasons are over, I hope you don't mind Pollux. Any and all comments on the new season will be put here, and I mean it. *Evil Hitler Grin*:D
(Bleep) off. I don't even get the new season for another two months...Stargate that is. Farscape is almost obselete in the UK and no-one knows when it's on so meh!!
Alien Mastermind 01-10-03, 07:24 PM :( Here in Canada I have been forced to watch the same series at least two times. They sometimes even make a mess out of them and show them not in order!
I should complain or something...
ozmonster 01-10-03, 08:11 PM WTF is going on. I missed first sement. How'd everyone get on earth?
oz
Pollux V 01-10-03, 09:16 PM I enjoyed the first episode of Farscape. There was an interesting plot twist.
However, the season finales tend to be much better than the season premieres, as I've discovered, because I think that they keep forgetting to resolve plot issues. I know that Crichton went back to Earth, but how the hell did his friends get there as well?
ozmonster 01-10-03, 09:26 PM I liked "KANSAS" as well.
I know that Crichton went back to Earth, but how the hell did his friends get there as well?
That's what I'm trying to figure out. I missed the part before the intro. What happened?
the season finales tend to be much better than the season premieres
Don't forget, Pollux, this was not the season premiere. This was simply an "all new episode." Season 4 episode 12 to be exact. Sci-fi channel decided to make the fourth season its last season after previously announcing and comitting to a 5th season (the dirty bastards). So rather than playing out the 4th season, they abruptly stopped season 4 after the 11th episode 6 or so months ago ... until now. There are only 11 more (including tonight's).
oz
CounslerCoffee 01-10-03, 09:49 PM Oz, you are correct. This is the last 11 eps of farscape, not the new season.
I know that Crichton went back to Earth, but how the hell did his friends get there as well?
Well, if you really want to know!:D The wormhole was still active, you couldn't see it, but it was active. I think that this has to do with John. I think that John can control wormholes, but doesn't know how to, yet. As they said in unrealized realities "You have to focus on one point, one time, and one place. Or else you will end up in a unrealized reality." Very good episode. I enjoyed the fact that Chi had sex with John, and that Rygel can get high off of halloween candy.
Thor, if you want to know what happens on SG1... Oh god, let's put it this way, if this is the best that StarGate has to offer... Then Im not watching anymore. *Serious look on face*
CounslerCoffee 01-11-03, 09:10 AM Oh, and I just want all the scapers to know. You should be recording these last few episodes, if I know scifi channel, and believe me I do, then they wont ever show reruns of farscape again(Ask any sliders fan). Plus, the DVDs, for season 4, wont be coming out here until sometime next year.:(
I don't get SciFi channel here in Canada, so I can't see either of them anymore (except SG1 reruns).
From what I've seen though (on sites), no that episode is definatly not the best SG1 has to offer, not even close. The episode before this last one looked really good. Too bad I can't see it
This is one of the reasons I like SG1:
(talking about a starship, the Asguard named the last one the O'niell)
Carter: what didnt they go for sir?
O'niell: The name I suggested
Carter: (gives a funny look) Sir , we can't call it the Enterprise...
Asguard 01-17-03, 10:41 PM they blew up the o'neill to kill the replocators:p
CounslerCoffee 01-18-03, 09:34 AM Oh gawd... Look, this thread is suppose to be about the new seasons of Farscape & SG1. This is not a debate area, there are about 3 other threads where you can go for that.
So, did you like last nights episode of SG1? What didnt you like about it?
Farscape was perfect last night, one of the best episodes that they've ever had.
ozmonster 01-18-03, 01:58 PM Great episode of Farscape. John never should have come back to earth. They cannot know the wonders he's seen.;) And wtf was that new alien? He looked more dangerous then the Scarrons. D'Argo knew what it was. I don't think we've seen the last of them.
oz
Thor, if you want to know what happens on SG1... Oh god, let's put it this way, if this is the best that StarGate has to offer... Then Im not watching anymore. *Serious look on face*
My post was simply an answer to this CC.
CounslerCoffee 01-18-03, 08:04 PM Xelios, I like stargate, okay? I just thought that the past few episodes havent been the greatest.
John should of never went back to Earth, I understand what your saying Oz. They can't know what he's done, what he's seen, or experienced. Earth has no idea whats waiting for it out there... And all they want to do is get the tech and not share it. When really, everyone on Earth should be trying to work together to fight the peacekeepers, the alien invaders, the scarrens... Stupid stupid people.
I think that that alien will be back, Graza might have a surplus of them, what a slut!
Pollux V 01-18-03, 09:59 PM Did Aeryn kill the funky invisi-alien assassin? Tell me tell me tell me!
CounslerCoffee 01-18-03, 10:05 PM No, D'argo had to blast it with his ships cannon. They tore that house up, yo!!!
Pollux V 01-18-03, 10:12 PM So its dead?
Can us earthlings use the never-really-referred-to warp drive that everyone in the farscape universe has?
CounslerCoffee 01-18-03, 11:00 PM They dont use warp drive... There ships run on fuel, last time I heard Dylithium crystals never ran out... Anyways. Aeryn's prowler (really cool looking) goes really fast... Okay I really dont know... Just take a stab at it.
CounslerCoffee 01-25-03, 11:37 AM *SPOILER ALERTS, well, maybe a few*
Last nights ep of Farscape.... All of the episodes so far this season have been a five out of five stars. Last nights episode, IMHO, only gets a 4 out of 5... Why? The ending of this episode "Twice Shy" was excellent. It answered so many questions, like why is John doing drugs, why is Aeryn so upset, and why Scorpious is really there. But it lasted about 30 seconds and only opened up more questions. Just an awesome awesome ep... I did not like the spider girl though, that has got to be the downfall of this one episode.
SG1 was surprisingly good tonight, a must see, and very interesting. Probably the best ep of the season so far.:)
What was the SG1 ep called Coffee? I wanna see if I can find it on KaZaA =P
CounslerCoffee 01-29-03, 12:16 PM It's called Smoke And Mirrors.
Neutrino_Albatross 01-29-03, 12:54 PM Coffee,
They dont use warp drive
Yes they do they just call it "hedge drive"
Definition of Warp Drive: A Sci-Magic device that allows writers to effectivly move spaceshpis around without a noticible amount of time passing.
Source: Neutrino_Albatross Dictionary of Sci-Fi
CounslerCoffee 01-31-03, 01:26 PM I had forgotten about that. Thanks Neu.
I was wondering, if they starburst on Moya, the supposibly come out at any random point, anywhere. So maybe a starburst is a form of wormhole? Just a thought.
Neutrino_Albatross 01-31-03, 03:55 PM I was wondering, if they starburst on Moya, the supposibly come out at any random point, anywhere.
Ya they say that but based on the way they use it that mkes no sense.
It randomly shoots you anywhere in the universe but always in the uncharted territories and never far from the person chasing you.
Numerous qutes saying something along the lines of "we need to star burst a few times to get away". If its random a second starburst isnt going to help you escape (in fact it could just put you back where you started).
You know, sometimme i really hate the fact that i notice crap like this :(
CounslerCoffee 02-03-03, 03:48 PM SG1 was great last week. The scenes between Mayborn and Jack... were just great.
Farscape's episode was intriguing because we find out who actually killed his wife. I wont say who really did it, because that would be a spoiler for our british fans who havent seen it yet. :)
So what did you guys think of the last episode of season 6? Personally I thought it provided an interesting background story for season seven, although it does feel like the plot has taken a computer game-ish turn. It looked more like an intro to an RPG than a Stargate episode.
CounslerCoffee 02-22-03, 01:27 AM DC, the Stargate episode that your referring to hasnt taken place yet... Matter a fact you didnt even mention anything about the episodes plot line... And you even put in a spoiler alert? Even though you didnt mention any spoilers?
What is up with you people today? Spammers and two threads started about the same thing, nay, four because I had to merge em'.
Counsler, he put spoilers cos people who have seen it will talk about the episode spoiling it for people who haven't seen it.
I am yet to see the last episode in Season 6, but it should be on soon!!

1. It's been aired on Sky ONE.
2. I put up a spoiler alert in case people will reveal the plotline, there are some huge plot developments in this episode so there is a lot to spoil.
3. This isn't spam, I want to hear peoples opinion of the episode. I would go into details about what I liked and disliked but I don't want to spoil the the whole thing for anybody.
CounslerCoffee 02-22-03, 12:17 PM Okay, but your still not getting the point. I told everyone, and everyone should know by now, that any SG1 and Farscape posts/threads about the current season will be moved to the thread "SG1 & Farscape" Thus, I move your thread.
CounslerCoffee 02-22-03, 12:23 PM Since we wont be seeing farscape anytime soon, I feel the need to post the DVD release dates & info:
http://starburstcards.com/KarlswebNewscape/DVD2003.htm
Ahem...
I think that Stargate SG-1 is one of the best science fiction shows of all times. Granted, Farscape does have some good effects and costumes. Visually, it's beautiful. However, I don't think that the story is very good.
My all-time favorite episode of SG-1 has to be the one where Tea'lc and Jack keep reliving the same day over and over. My second favorite has to be the one where they have those special armbands that give them those special powers.
Of course any show that has the Nox, Tollan, Asgaurd (spelled wrong), or my fav scumbags, Maybourne, Simmons, or the senator is awesome.
But if you really want a good sci-fi, story check out Babylon 5. Okay, the acting was awful, costumes were lame, and the effects... what effects? However if you forget all that... it's great.

Ghost of Mirkwood
Welcome to Sciforums Nivao :D
Another SG-1 fan, woo!! *dances*
Sci-Fi has just started S:AAB and that too has a good story. Babylon 5 did have some good acting, yes it happened like once a season but hey. But the fighters did look cool.
CounslerCoffee 03-07-03, 09:32 AM Welcome Niavo.
However, I don't think that the story is very good.
That's because you don't understand it.
Thor, I keep telling you that there are more fans of SG-1 because its a show that anyone can watch, it a takes a smart, dedicated, scifi fan to watch farscape. SG1 is just an insult to scifi.
Neutrino_Albatross 03-07-03, 10:08 AM SG1 is just an insult to scifi.
Now i think that's a little extreme. I agree that SG1 is no where near as good as Farscape but it is a good show. I just wish that this season had never been made.
Maybe Farscape only attracts so few veiwers because only a few people can tolerate it's sheer badness. BURN!
Neutrino_Albatross 03-07-03, 01:39 PM Thor,
I think the only reason Farscape attrcst few viewers is because if you cant miss an episode and still understand whats going on. Stargate each episode is pretty much stand alone so more people can watch and understand it.
Yeah I know, but I had the biggest urge to fire an insult towards farscape in retaliation
I thought I saw the first episode that Granny was in... but I realized that I have no clue where she came from.
I remember Critchon asking 'whos this' but I must have missed when they explained who she was.
Who's Granny?!?
CounslerCoffee 03-08-03, 10:16 PM Granny came from the blown up Peace Keeper command carrier. They freed her people, so she stayed behind to help Critchton & Co.
Also, the return of Stark was this week! Wow! Wasnt expecting that (I dont watch the previews for next week, gives away to much)
And I already know, were up for one hell of a cliff-hanger.
Oh and SG1 sucked, again.
Neutrino_Albatross 03-09-03, 12:40 AM That reminds me.
Can anyone tell me why Stark left Moya? I dont think ive ever seen that episode.
CounslerCoffee 03-09-03, 01:06 PM Stark was supposedly dead. He went really crazy after Zhaan died. The reason why Stark wanted to torture Scorpious is because Scorpy once tortured him, in the aurora chair. (Look up episodes: Nerve, The Hidden Memory)
Pollux V 03-10-03, 08:23 AM Hey, can someone clue me in as to the events of the last episode? I missed it, I could have watched it but I forgot. I feel like such an idiot:(:(
Is the next episode the last?
CounslerCoffee 03-10-03, 03:37 PM Two more eps, Pollux. *SPOILER ALERT* - *PLOT DESCRIPTION*
From aintitcoolnews.com:
FARSCAPE 4.20: HOT TO KATRATZI Picking up where Fetal Attraction left off, the second part of the aptly-named We’re So Screwed trilogy sees Moya & company out to free Scorpius from the clutches of the Scarrans.
Crichton’s reason for rescuing his nemesis is to prevent Scorpuis’ from revealing the knowledge of wormhole technology that has been buried in his mind.
Crichton gatecrashes a conference between the Scarrans and the Peacekeepers and announces that he his willing to sell his knowledge of wormholes to the highest bidder, proudly offering: “I’m an American. What does every American want? Capitalism”. In order to ensure his safety, Crichton has strapped a crude thermo-nuclear device to himself, tricked-up with every kind of dead-mans’switch he can muster: “too happy, too sad…”
Whilst both sides are trying to up the ante, the wheels are set in motion to free Scorpius. As Rygel and D’argo try to get the low-level workers at the complex to riot, Sikozu enlists the help of a kindred spirit to aid the acquisition of Scorpius.
Crichton make dummy deals with both sides: the Peacekeepers offer him a full pardon for past crimes and the Scarrans offer him a guarantee of safety for him and Earth, to which Crichton replies:
“Bill Gates couldn’t guarantee Windows safety, so how can you guarantee mine?”
As Scorpius in being interrogated, the Scarrans pull out their secret weapon to use in extracting the vital information. Without spoiling it for you (although other reviews printed here will doubtless reveal who it is), the Scarrens bring in a familiar face, absent from Moya for some time, who is just itching to take revenge on his former tormentor. Whereas, a devoted ally seeks to free his former master from enemy hands…
When the balloon goes up, the riots break out and Crichton & Aeryn find Scorpius and drag the weakened half-breed to a waiting escape ship (it’s gotta’ be said that the silly voice that Wayne Pygram puts on at this point makes him sound like Zippy from Rainbow – one for the UK readers!). As this is the second part of a three-part story, the escape does not go to plan: the climax sees Scorpius decking Aeyrn and pinning Crichton to the floor as he hisses “trust me…”, all the while the stress-o-meter attached to the Crichton’s Thermo-nuclear device beeps furiously, like Jackie Gleason’s Haemo-gauge in Smokey & the Bandit II…
This episode is a great mid-section to this story, and serves to show that it’s a shame that this show will bite the big one in two episodes time. It is also a pity because this, along with the previous episode, finally started to flesh out a couple of characters that have long been overlooked – namely Noranti & Rygel. Noranti has become both more compassionate and street-smart, with a nice line in knowing humour and (gulp) more than a hint of a sex-drive about her…
The romance between Crichton & Ayren (which, let’s face it, has been more off-&-on than the whole fucking marriage storyline in Lois & Clark) finally begins to show itself, as the pair share a moment in a lift before the potentially futile rescue plan commences, giving a literal interpretation to the words of Irving Berlin’s Let’s Face the Music and Dance”
There have been a couple of times in the last couple of episodes where Rygel has come into his own and you see that there is great potential in the character – a greater depth than merely being the one who drops helium trouser-coughs for comic relief. It’s a great pity that this will not be developed further. It would have been cool if they could have given him an episode where he was the main character - in the tradition of groan-inducing titles, they could have called it Making Plans for Rygel.
It will soon be time for Farscape to disappear down a televisual wormhole on the strength of what has been seen for the most part this season, it’s a real bitch.
END SPOILER ALERT
All in all, a great ep, way better then the last one. Only two more episodes and it'll all be over. :(
No one likes a spoiler!!
Not that anyone has the time to read all of that!!!
Just kidding, hey everyone, welcome my new friend:
Niudo, the other Ghost of Mirkwood.

Ghost of Mirkwood
Hello everyone. I am here posting this not out of choice but rather under strict instructions and threat of death- ie end of Golden-Child exposure.
Ah well, cheers.
My instructions were these: post here. Say that you are just saying that I love LOTR.
Okay.
I love LOTR.
Sounds simple enough. But I actually do. I'm not just like following instructions.
Ah well.
I must depart currently... buhbye! I like the bushy thing.:m:
Hello I have no A) point and B) time. I actually have an idea but note enough time, judging by the squirell convinced that I am doing homework. But I wanted to say hello.
Ah well, cheers. There is nothing left for me to say. Except one thing: why does no one ever read Ultimate LOTR Resource thread? Just wondering. I posted there and will continue to do so. It deserves a few more addicts or at least scornful others glancing in now and again.
Ta-ta.
Ah wait. One thing left to say.
Odd? You are generous with your words. Thank you very much. I've been called-
Ah crackers. Stepped on the stupid lippy that exploded in my knapsack. I must flee for my life now, either that or some cleaning solution, therefore equalling the prolongation of my life meaning I won't be killed by the squirells [ie my parents, you do not know this unless you read the other thready thing I previously mentioned but am to lazy to fully type out].
Cheers!
Believe me, dude, she is way more than odd. Of course, I shouldn't talk, I hang out with her. (Joke Kaylie)
I don't think that she'll be posting on this tread again any time soon. YOU ARE SAVED FROM HER ODDNESS, for now.
~Nivao
Ghost of Mirkwood
Am I the only one here who's scared? :(
Okay, so I only have one. And it really is only an example.
Stargate SG-1, Season 4, Episode 16 [2010]:
Right, it's ten years into the future, and we've realized what a huge mistake it was to create an alliance with the Ashen (is that how it's spelled?). Maj. Carter comes up with the brilliant idea to send a note back 10 years to ourselves, telling us that we shouldn't go to planet... P4X-whatever. It works, we save the world, and the mysterious note is kept under safekeeping.
But, if we stopped this horrific event from ever occuring, how can we have that note? We sent the note in order to stop ourselves from ever having to write it, and yet it's there. It won't be written, we saved the day, yet, we have it. Shouldn't the note have ceased to exist?
The plain and simple lesson that the writers of SG-1 have to face is: involving time travel into the plot NEVER WORKS. We aren't mad at you, but we hope you've learned something from this.
~Nivao
Ghost of Mirkwood
Ashen (is that how it's spelled?)
Yes, that is how it's spelt
That's the problem with anything to do with Time Travel. Just look at Back to the Future 2, if Bif got the Almanac in 1955, he wouldn't have the Delorean in the future to send it back to himself. Which is why if something has happened in the future it will still happen regardless. Much like if we send someone back in time to say...assasinate Hitler, we already know he will fail as Hitler killed himself. Which is why I theorise that altering time is impossible.
That is exactly the point I was getting across. Who needs the other 99 reasons? The one totally sums it up.
Tank U FoUr dE SpLinG HelP, by the way.
Spelled and Spelt. It's like further and farther. Are you and english teacher or something?
There are quite a few things that I don't personally agree with about that show. Of course, it still ROCKS. :D
1) Why are those aliens always speaking english?! Okay, the Nox and Asgaurd (SPELT right?) I can understand, they learned it.
2) When the Tollan go through walls, why don't they fall through the floor?
3) That Native American-like guy, he used phrases like 'cool' and 'right?'.
4) In the pilot episode, did Apophis walk right back through that incoming wormhole? That makes no sense!!! He couldn't have dialed the gate from down there.
5) Finally, Jafa Kree (undoubtedly SPELT wrong), it's used for 'halt,' 'fire,' 'attention,' but what is the TRUE meaning?!
Someone help me understand this!!!! Namarie.
~Nivao
Ghost of Mirkwood
Number One: I've never seen Stargate.
Number Two: By this point there are millions of fellow-freaks out there wanting to bloody KILL me because I've never seen Stargate. But I regret it!
For further instructions how to kill me, read what I'm about to post in the Ultime LOTR Resource thread.
Hint: I would cut off your head, dwarf, if only it stood a little higher from the ground just isn't working on me. Sorry.
1) Why are those aliens always speaking english?! Okay, the Nox and Asgaurd (SPELT right?) I can understand, they learned it.
Maybe they were the original speakers of "English". Maybe the English language was brought to us by the aliens. You can't rule out that possibility
2) When the Tollan go through walls, why don't they fall through the floor?
Because they are so goddam advanced they have programmed the devices not to go through horizonatal objects
3) That Native American-like guy, he used phrases like 'cool' and 'right?'.
Because the writer cocked up
4) In the pilot episode, did Apophis walk right back through that incoming wormhole? That makes no sense!!! He couldn't have dialed the gate from down there.
This I cannot remember
5) Finally, Jafa Kree (undoubtedly SPELT wrong), it's used for 'halt,' 'fire,' 'attention,' but what is the TRUE meaning?!
There is no proper translation for it, but loosly translated it means 'Halt' 'Fire' 'Attention and even as O'Neill said 'Yoo-Hoo'
Hope this helps a little
Tristan 03-15-03, 10:19 PM Thank you DC++ for NOW I HAVE WATCHED THE SERIES FINALE OF FARSCAPE! THATS RIGHT! I downloaded it! Its DVD quality too! WooooHoooo!

CounslerCoffee 03-21-03, 01:09 PM This thread has been unstuck since the season is over tonight. I hope you all enjoy!
*wipes a tear from his eye*
Ok. I just saw the last Farscape, and... well... it sucked. What was with that ending? I guess they just didn't want to wrap everything up all nice.
CounslerCoffee 03-22-03, 01:14 AM Persol, yes it sucks the way that it ended, leaving everything up in the air like that.... They didn't know that the show was canceled until it was to late. It's sad that I will never ever know whats going to happen next, but other then that, it was the best episode ever. Period.
Yeah, I watched the second showing of it just now... and I realized it wasn't all that bad (but not the best). My hopes were high since it was the last show.
Tristan 03-22-03, 06:21 PM The last show? Maybe not! If they left it that open with Aeryn and John being "NEUTRALIZED" which could mean that they were not killed. MAybe another network could pick it up! That would be awesome!

Pollux V 03-22-03, 06:35 PM Don't forget, at the end, it said "to be continued." Just think, if they make a movie and release it to the theaters, with the same actors and the same writers and much, much better graphics (even though the ones in the show are fairly good in their own right) etc etc I have no doubt that it will be an Academy Award contender for best picture. All they need is a cool director. Spielberg does scifi, maybe he'll take an interest...
