This morning in the Silence of meditation thoughts would not let me be, again. But this time it was worse.
This morning an awareness of JOY and gloom hit me at the same time.

The intellectual horror of what my hands have been writing to make me laugh suddenly dawned on me.

I have been writing, and then laughing at: "there is no such think as thinking."

It suddenly dawned on me that it is impossible and yet it was obvious. But it is impossible. And the more impossible it gets – that there is no such thing as thinking – the more obvious Laughter makes it.

And then a thought/word hit me that put this word “obvious” into pure perspective: SELF-evident.
It became Self-evident that if each one of us could control our thinking there would be absolutely no order, not only for all the order in the universe but also all its conflict and chaos.

If thinking was “free” – if there was no order to thinking – if we could think what “we” wanted: then there would be no identifiable chaos and disorder because there would be only noise that could not even be defined as “thoughts.”

The only way to put this word SELF-evident into perspective is with Quantum Physics/Chemistry and its Periodic Table.

If particles could do as they wanted – if there were no quantum gaps – then there would be no Periodic Table, and then there would be no metals and non-metals, and then some: NOT ONLY WOULD THERE BE NO METALS AND NON-METALS BUT THERE WOULD NOT EVEN BE THE CHAOS AND DISORDER WE NEED METALS AND NON-METALS TO GET.

Without the Periodic Table we would have, at best, neutrons that couldn’t even split into protons-electrons let alone atoms because you need the order of quantum-gaps of Quantum Physics to get protons (and antiprotons) and their electrons before you can get atoms let alone molecules.

SO TOO – EXACTLY – with thoughts. If the mind could be free with its thoughts – if the mind could think what it wants; or, if there was such a thing as thinking -- then we would only have “noise” that could not never be organized into something we could call: thoughts.

There can be no such thing as thinking, and as impossible/insane as it sounds it is as SELF-evident as is Quantum Physics’ Periodic Table.

And yes: this means that if there was such a thing as thinking then we would not have any sleep-dreams .. and then some: we would not be able to dream that we wake up in the morning.

And this is the Supreme Truth that is as SELF-evident as is Quantum Physics.

Can you stop posting pseudo-religious nonsense? This isn't philosophy. You're just pronouncing things from a sort of new-age guru soap box mixed in with concepts better housed in the EASTERN PHILOSOPHY SECTION. Please, post there. They like this stuff there. Not here. Hell, this is not even good for -Eastern Philosophy-. It is pseudo-scientific. Put it in that forum.

It is not intelligible enough for me to decide which pseudo it is.

IT IS DARN SURE NOT SCIENCE. WHY IS IT HERE?

Genep,
Possibly I have a way that may help you clarify what you are attempting to say regards thought or the act of thinking. I shall not comment on the science and leave that to others.

What is thought?

Something that philosophers have been attempting to answer since they recognised that they were capable of it [ thinking]

What you seem to be saying is that a thought is non-existant and in a way I can see some justification for that position.

The way I see it is that thinking is an act of reflecting that which we are aware of. It is how we animate our mirror that determines what we reflect. Thus thinking is the self inspired animation of our inner mirror and not the thought itself persee.

In other words our thoughts are but mere reflections of our reality. Thus thought itself does not exist and only our manipulation of our thinking mirror does. How we feel about what we reflect is our sense of experience.

So thought does not come and go as such but merely shifts in focus and intensity [ mirror ]

I trust that possibly the above might help you work out the connundrum you are suggesting.
I am not saying that I am correct in what I have said, just simply suggesting another way of exploring your contention.
