I am building a rubber band car and am wondering how to get the car to stop at the end after i wind it up and let it go. I dont want the rubber band to roll up again and rolll backwards at the end of its line of travel. This is what I have so far:

This is looking inside the body. I used a long can and the body of a pen and glued CDs to it with some washers on the inside of the CD and a piece of plastic card on the outside. I also streched some rubber on the CDs so I won't lose friction with the ground.

This is only about half done:

Is it better to use smaller wheels for the front wheels?
I was thinking about adding a small weight to the center inside. Or would it be better to leave it out?

    Thanks,
    Lisa

    Hi Pink, welcome to SciForums.

We recently had a thread on almost exactly this kind of problem. It might be advantageous for you to go through it and see some of the advice that worked and some that didn't. The thread starter did very well in the competition.
