View Full Version : Rolling Stone Guitar List
jax0509 04-22-06, 05:54 AM Who here agrees with this list because i think there are big flaws.
Rolling stone guitar list (http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/5937559/the_100_greatest_guitarists_of_all_time/?rnd=1145703098703&has-player=true&version=6.0.12.1348)
RoyLennigan 04-22-06, 10:08 AM i agree with #1 and that's all that counts
Alejandro 04-22-06, 11:30 AM i disagree. Jimi's alot of wha and fuzz, Page and Richards studio work is more creative.
jack whit, curt cobain and jerry garcia in top 20....come on theyre better than EVH? and where is Mick Taylor on this list?
Yeah, a lot of names that shouldn't be on there, and a LOT of names not even on that list that should be in the top 20.

Idle Mind 04-22-06, 02:32 PM Joni Mitchell is on there, but Slash isn't?
thedevilsreject 04-22-06, 02:48 PM what no vai or satch, Kirk Hammet at number 11 and marty friedman not even in at all, that needs some serious working, fucking american bumming assholes
sargentlard 04-22-06, 10:48 PM Yeah...I wouldn't read that. I tends to get one's blood pretty riled up. It was posted here before and pretty much the same things happened which is happening now; disgust and disbelief.
I know music is subjective and open to interpretation but that list is fucked up.
shaman_ 04-23-06, 12:23 AM Jack White at #17? err no. The list was made in 2003 but really...
Slash not on the list at all. I'm not going to look at it any further.
jax0509 04-23-06, 05:41 AM page should be a lot higher up than 9, he is at least in the top 5, and EVH at 70 that is just wrong
Alejandro 04-23-06, 04:29 PM page should be a lot higher up than 9
yeah, i look at "The Song Remains The Same" disk and say based on that alone he should be at #1.
Dazed and Confused is not my favorite song but there is a part during the show that doesnt sound humanly possible....either a tape machine (nah cant be that) or divine intervention.
This poll mustve been taken at a briney spears concert. should be-
1. jimmy page
2. keith richards
3. mick taylor
4. joe satriani
5. evh
i have to edit my list now. Hendrix could be anywhere in 1 to 5.
Favorite Hendrix song - Isabella
Tyler N. 04-23-06, 06:22 PM Jimi is okay, but this looks more like a guitarists of the most popular bands list to me.
thedevilsreject 04-24-06, 04:54 AM Jimi is okay, but this looks more like a guitarists of the most popular bands list to me.
if that is the case then why is not slash in the list
jax0509 04-24-06, 02:55 PM ive just seen that adam jones is all the way down at 75..wtf!!!! and just listen to crush of love by satriani and then try and justify why he is not in the top 100..the same goes for tender surrender by vai
thedevilsreject 04-25-06, 03:36 AM i personally think that as with the rolling stones, keith richards is way overhyped. i find listening to their music completely nausiating
thedevilsreject 04-26-06, 02:17 PM wheres james hetfield IMO the best rhythm guitarist in the world
Zarklephaser 04-27-06, 03:35 AM Johnny Marr of the Smiths would easily be in my top three. That he does not make the Rolling Stone list at all is absolutely ridiculous. Then again, I would also place Lee Ranaldo (33), Thurston Moore (34), Tom Verlaine (56), and Kevin Shields (95) much higher on my list. And I am not a fan of anything he does, but I would argue that Trey Anastasio (73) deserves to be much further up on anyone's list.
