(hello everyone....i was doing a school project on the iraq war and it lead me here....after reading a few threads i decided to join)

For all the people who support the iraq war and believe in what the president is saying why after the september 11th attacks Bush was looking for a link between al qaida and iraq after there was clearly none.

Is Bush honestly this dumb?

No, actually he's really smart. He envisioned getting re-elected on the grounds that he did a wonderful job on terrorism and knew he couldn't get osama. So what does he do? He takes the eye off of Osama (the guy who attacked us) and decides to invade a totally innocent country because it's an easy target.

All he had to do to conquer Iraq was drop a ton of bombs and send over a bunch of troops to fight in a total diversion from the real war on terror. The fact is there was no reason for this war in iraq at all and please, if you support bush or this war please respond.

Although I don't support Bush, I think you should examine the possibility that there were very real reasons for the attempted US corporate and military takeover of Iraq. Some of the newest rhetoric from the Bush Administration is actually honest, even if it wasn't offered so loudly to the public before the invasion and occupation.

1: OPEC has got to be cracked before they think to stop playing nice with Washington, and even in Dubya's inner sanctum, they can sense an imminent power-shift in the Mideast. People with much oil under their feet are the real "reservists" America depends on. If oil trading shifts significantly to Euros the Dollar is going down. Precipitously. Do a little research on the "last straw" before Iraq was invaded. Find out what currency Iraqi oil was being sold in, not just during Oil4food, but slated to be so afterwards.

2: I'm out of time, but you might explore the carefully-nurtured relationship between evangelical American Christians and zionism, specifically the Israeli Likud. We're talking hell-bent on many levels.

Sorry if this is disjointed, but get a little background on the resumes of the people running our government (not Congress) and you'll find they had strong delusions of New American Century blessed by God and fueled on the last heaping helpings of Big Oil. I've really gotta go. Keep learning.

mikasa11: hypewaders is right. In the US you need money to be elected and so when you are elected those people want something back. You maybe right to a minor exstent but the main reason was those american companys that wanted to get there hands on the oil

Welcome mikasa11. You figured it out. Congrats for being able to read between the lines. It's all about money with Bush. Feeding misinformation to Republicans is one way to get re-elected. It also takes lots of money. Republican candidates promise to pay off their wealthy supporters by being a private rather than public servant. As Asguard notes, Bush invaded Iraq to put the oil into the hands of friendly oil companies, who funded his re-election campaign and will reward him again when he leaves office (when it's legal). Meanwhile the taxpayers and future generations pay all the bills for no gain; indeed terrorism against the US will increase because of this unjust war. For an eye opener, google for executive order 13303.
