    Grand Ol' Obstructionists

We should also bear in mind that House Minority Leader Rep. Boehner (R-OH) recently said that if his only option was to vote to preserve the tax cut for $250,000 and under, he would do so.

Presented with that situation, however, he voted against it.

The GOP right now is the height of absurdity. Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) even intends to hold up ratification of START in hopes of winning a tax cut extension for the wealthy, a move that earned criticism from five former Republican Secretaries of State.

And one of those former Republican Secretaries of State was also the nation's senior military officer (Chairman of the Joint Chiefs). Despite the president's recent efforts at bipartisanship, it is readily apparent that nothing has changed in the Republican ranks. It is more business as usual for Republicans. It appears that they still have not gotten the message that the nations finances need to be brought into order. They don't want to make signficiant spending cuts and they don't want to increase revenues/taxes; so their fiscal policy amounts to more of the same...the same stuff that got us into this mess. The Republican leadership in Washington appears to have learned nothing.
