Does anyone in the (USA TV market) remember a Sci-fi show in the late 70’s called Ark II or something like that, where a group of people travel in this very futuristic (or at least at the time it was) big white vehicle? I only saw the show like twice and thought it was cool From the 80's song lyrics: “Were off in outer space, protecting Mother Earth, to save the human race, were Star, Star blazers…” Ok maybe I am either too bored or just have too much time on my hands… (Name what shows you remember and the market, USA UK, etc..)
Perhaps it was "Space 1999" : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space:_1999 I vaguely remember this TV show, it sounds like what you might be talking about. I only remember 1 episode where they took a spacecraft to a frozen world with cold blooded beings. When they took some of the cold blooded beings off the planet, they disintegrated. lol
Youre probably thinking of a show called The Starlost. I used to watch it back in the 70s...along with the excellent Space 1999. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMAi6u4Ps5A
Flash Gordon from the 1950's Superman The Twilight Zone The Outer Limits Lost In Space Space Ghost My Favorite Martian Star Trek (the original series)
I think the Outer limits and the Twilight Zone were written incredibly well. Great thought when into them as only those shows could capture such a thought or a bending idea such as the man on the train and every train stop was the same small town. Not until the end of the show does the camera pan out and the viewer discovers it is actually a model toy train set that was set up in a circle. Or the alien from another planet that the people are so afraid of that they end up killing him and try burning him only to discover what he has in his hand was a note saying he came in peace and wanted to give mankind the cure to cancer but the rest of the page is burned away and the alien is dead.
We really need some new sci-fi. With SGA being cancelled all that's left is half a season of BSG, that terminator series and the BSG spinoff. Sigh...
I liked to original Battlestar Galactica. I'd tune in every Sunday and hope Boomer would finally get a kill.
There's Dr. Who which still running don't forget. Also ...http://www.cinemarealm.com/2008/08/22/new-stargate-series-announced-for-summer-2009/ And then all of these IF they ever get funding... http://www.axiomsedge-scifi.com/upcoming_scifi_tv.htm
Star Blazers was a Japanese animated cartoon. The song you're recalling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5oniErmeuE
Yea but wasn’t star blazers still Sci-fi, even though it was a cartoon from Japan? I was just remembering it, thats all..... I forgot about G Force... Nobody has said anything about Ark II? weird..... What about Lost in Space with that crazy gay uncle Dr. guy, werid show but cool for its time.
Then there was... Time Tunnel Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea Farscape Battlestar Gallectica Quantum Leap
Blake's Seven Kind of interesting. The visual effects are about on a par with the original "Star Trek", a bit dated by current standards, to say the least. But interesting story lines. They ran it some years ago on my state's PBS network. (Iowa) Had kind of a strange ending for the series, or maybe they didn't show the entire series. Time Tunnel Yay! I'm not the only one who remembers it.
I think that they took Blake's Seven down in flames in the last episode. I think that Time Tunnel can still be purchased from Itunes.
