Seriously, folks. I know that when you see the commercials for this movie the first thought that must pop into your mind is "another mediocre action movie with special effects for flavor." Wellllll if you go see this incredibly cool movie you will be in for quite the pleasant surprise. The acting is really believable, Mathew cant-spell-his-name is an animal bent on killing dragons, the british guy jokes around a lot and really cares for his people. The pretty woman (heh heh) doesn't have much of a part but works with what she has. I don't know why they said that Alice Krige was a star, she was in the movie for about thirty seconds and had three lines. Anyhoo, the plot is just bonkers. Bonkers Bonkers Bonkers. But what the director and writer(s) have fashioned out of this bonkered idea is a world that works, where dragons rule the world once again. And the action, oooh the action is just extraordinary, with helicoptor dudes flying out of planes and chasing down mister evil dragon with nothing but a pair of metal nets, with a giant male dragon incinerating a caravan of troops in one, long, glorious scene. The finale really makes the whole movie, reminiscent of Jaws in many ways, with solid camera angles, excellent use of color (and sweat, on matt's part), and this huge dragon. Seriously, even though I don't remember seeing Jurassic Park in movie theatres, these guys were so much better, so much cooler. All in all, a very cool (or hot...heheh I'm such a wee little punner) movie, well worth your viewing.
I saw reign of fire last night. I made a couple friends go with me hehe and....it kicked ass! This movie isnt for everyone but if you like monsters & dragons & stuff...this was awesome. Dragons look very cool. Acting was good. Matthew mc and christian bale were both good. So what I am saying is...I dug it.
It was one of those movies that only comes along for me extremely rarely when watching it in the theatres I wanna scream "This movie is awesome!" It was original and incredible.
