Right, I was just checking what my post per day average was and I noticed I had a referral. Can anyon shed some light on this 'referral' thing and how I got it?

    Thank you

It indicates that someone became member of these forums because of you. somethingish. it's not entirely clera to me as well. I got 3... I know of 2 who they are. I told them about these forums- the identity of third is unknown to me. unfortunately. But I feel sopmewhat flattered.

I dont understand the point in tallying up referrals, introducing new members to the forum is always good but does the referral tally do anything?

    Referrals...http://www.sciforums.com/misc.php?s=&action=faq&page=2#referrals

Referrals come about when you invite a person to join sciforums and they list your netname in the proper space. It automatically credits you with a referral.

Some time back a contest was run for who had the most referrals. It also shows your support for sciforums in real life by showing that you speak of it and have interest in it.
