It indicates that someone became member of these forums because of you. somethingish. it's not entirely clera to me as well. I got 3... I know of 2 who they are. I dont understand the point in tallying up referrals, introducing new members to the forum is always good but does the referral tally do anything?

It automatically credits you with a referral. Some time back a contest was run for who had the most referrals. It also shows your support for sciforums in real life by showing that you speak of it and have interest in it.
