This show kill's me, its probably my favorite TV show of all time. These are 2 of my many, many, favorite moments. I'd love to hear any one else's.

Set-up - The crew is under attack, a "BLUE ALERT" light flashes in the background...

RIMMER: "Step up to red alert!"
KRYTEN: "Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb."


Set-up - Cat and Lister are watching TV...

LISTER: "Do you think Wilma is sexy?"
CAT: "Wilma Flintstone?"
LISTER: "Maybe we've been alone in deep space too long but every time I see that show her body drives me crazy! ... is it me?"
CAT : "I think, in all probability ... Wilma Flintstone is the most desirable woman who ever lived."
LISTER: "That's good, I thought I was going strange."
CAT: "She's incredible."
LISTER: "What do you think of Betty?"
CAT: "Betty Rubble? Well ... I would go with Betty, but I'd be thinking of Wilma."
LISTER: "This is crazy! Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone?"
CAT: "You're right ... we're nuts ... this is an insane conversation."
Lister: "She'll never leave Fred and we know it."

It's a good programme.

Those are probably two of my most favourite parts of RD, especially the Wilma Flintstone one.

WOW, did i ever misread this crowd.

I honestly expected that a "simpson's quotes" kind of thread would emerge but it seems i'm in the minority when it comes to my love of this show (and my geeky knowledge of every word uttered).

So, im going to use the cheap method of extending a thread and continue adding quotes myself in hopes i'll find at least a few other die hards in the forum.


THE SET-UP - The entire crew has been assaulted by a creature that feeds off of emotion and they are trying to come up with a way to retaliate.

RIMMER: "Umm ... i think we're all beginning to lose sight of the real issue here, which is ... what are we going to call ourselves?
I think it comes down to a choice between 'The League Against Salivating Monsters' or, my own personal preference, which is the 'Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society'
... umm, one draw back of that being the abbreviation is C.L.I.T.O.R.I.S."


BTW - as much as i love Jay & Silent Bob, Red Dwarf was first in this instance.

oh man, you're really briniging out my inner nerd ... but ya, ive read all the books (and this is the REALLY geeky part) i also have them in an unabridged audio version.

Not only are the books a good fleshing of the characters but Chris Barrie does such a perfect imitation of all the charachters ... it's like hearing a movie.

I'm 14, and over 9 of my years were spent watching assorted british comedys. But, Red Dwarf by far is the best brit-com. My parents raised we on Red Dwarf, I probally seen all of the episodes, but the funniest thing has to the Curry Guy, "I love Curry"

the best series by far has to be the second one, Queeg was hilarious, the intro alone was gr8, hollys very funny, especially on the introductions in the 1st couple series

on another note, who do you guys think is better, Holly #1 or Holly #2. I used to prefer holly1 but in the new series he plays to the camera too much like he's waiting for a laugh, I miss his flat deadpan delivery. Holly2 was much better than I thought possible, replacing an established character's spot is almost impossible to do successfully (I assumed the series would die without Lovett).

So, for me over all, my vote goes to Holly2. It's pretty close but she wins.

Isnt she really called hilly? and although she did ok as a replacement to the original i dont think she compared to the 1st one, he played the part brilliantly, and did a gr8 full moon impression :)

no she was hilly when she was on the show with holly1 (norman lovett), end of the second season i think. but after lovett left the show (season 3) hilly became holly (holly2). and id agree he was better in the first 2 seasons but his stuff in the last season is so weak when compared i think overall holly 2 is better. In the new shows he just trys way to hard to be funny.

Its nice to see rimmer back tho.

Then again every episode has major continuity, scientific and general concept errors. I think thats one of my favorite things about the show.

well they are playing draughts, well kind of (rimmers beaten but if he waits for the scutter to go back to work he wins by default, usual rimmer) but there are 2 camara shots of the board, in the 1st pieces are on white squares on the board and in the 2nd they are all on brown squares, also all the pieces have all moved nearer to the edge of the board and are in different positions, also the direction they are playing has changed (rimmers playin up the board instead of down) and there is an extra piece on the board in the 2nd shot (i know im sad for noticing, but observant aswel:))

I actually got the usa version off kaaza, gnutella or edonkey (can't remember which one) so you might still find it there, it was sooooo bad ... just really, really, really, really bad. I couldn't bear to watch it all but every hardcore fan should at least see part of it in case some other idiot trys to make an american version again.

something about that and the show really appeals to me. Its almost how i imagined my life turning out, being on a spaceship millions of years from earth with just the company of a hologram, a mechanoid, a strange cat, and a talking smeggin toaster....

I liked the series 2 episode where the post arives, and there is a VR game in it... so they play and rimmers ego kicks in and ruins it for everbody, i especially liked the "outland Revenue" i was quite dissapointed when rimmer was told he was now an officer to discover that in fact it was still in the game. I do feel sorry for rimmer.
