Seeing as I haven't seen a thread about this and I know there are some people who will be excited about this: Easter weekend this year two new Red Dwarf episodes well be aired! About smegging time eh? :yay:
I never watched it but when I read this I became interested. "The main setting of the series is the eponymous mining spaceship Red Dwarf which is 6 miles (10 km) long, 5 miles (8 km) tall, and 4 miles (6 km) wide In the first episode, an on-board radiation leak of cadmium II kills everyone except for low-ranking technician Dave Lister, who is in suspended animation at the time, and his pregnant cat, Frankenstein, who is safely sealed in the cargo hold.Following the accident, the ship's computer Holly keeps Lister in stasis until the background radiation dies down—a process that takes three million years.[4] Lister therefore emerges as the last human being in the universe—but not the only life form on-board the ship. His former bunkmate and immediate superior Arnold Rimmer is resurrected by Holly as a hologram to keep Lister sane. At the same time, a creature known only as Cat is the last member on board of Felis sapiens, a race of humanoid felines that evolved in the ship's hold from Lister's cat, Frankenstein, and her kittens during the 3 million years that Lister was in stasis." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dwarf
There's probably some clips on youtube you can watch, or alternatively a dvd box set probably won't cost that much. My unmeasureable bias means there's little point me telling you just how amusingly brilliant the show is.Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
red dwarf is excellent. i can't wait for the new episodes to be aried, and they aer suppose to be making a film, its about time Lister, Cat, Kryton and Rimmer were back on the red dwarf, the last time i saw it they found the red dwarf but it was over taken by the nano bots
I'm quite excited about the idea, used to be quite a fan, although not of the last series so much, I preferred it when the crew was just Lister, Cat, Kryton and Rimmer.
Are you sure? Over here it works out less than 60 bucks! You could probably import it for less than $135! Maybe I just saw some good deals though.

Despite the coding some dvds work anyway, and some players are also able to play multiple regions, IIRC there's a way of "opening" them up so to speak.
Yeah, Google the make of your DVD and 'region hack', and you may well find a quick and easy way of disabling it. My old DVD was a snip to disable, you just had to eject the tray, and press a 4 digit code on the remote, and it would play anything.
Most DVD players are a breeze to unlock. Just search the code online, enter it thru your remote and it ought to either unlock it or bring up an engineers screen. Select Region 0 and you can watch anything from anywhere. The cheaper the player, the easier it is to unlock, I've found. Well worth the hassle to get to see the Dwarf... Just dont ever watch the US pilot show. It was abysmal!
You could probably import a very cheap dvd player AND Red dwarf for less than 130 bucks, might be pushing it though. What about playing it on a PC DVD Drive? They aren't region coded are they? EDIT: PS3? They only have a couple regions so are they region free?
