Is it just me or has the recent use of the phrase "shock and awe" that's been harlotted among news networks of late strike of the "ladies and gentlemen" hype of the Ringling Brothers?

Does it not bother you to hear anchorfolk comment on 'embeds' having the "best seats in the house"?

goddam how I HATE to hear the little fuckers say "shock and awe", ESPECIALLy if the little fucker is female.

I am in shock and awe at this thread. In SHOCK and AWE...yeah i guess they do dramatize a lot these days to get reaction from people or rather to excite reaction from them. It's also funny if you notice how they make such a face when they say that...so dramatic and awe aspiring. Infact they make a appropriate reaction with every bit of news - amazingly happy when it's good news and quite dramatic with sad news. It comes off rather pathetic but it looks better than a indifferent facial reaction when reading the news.

And why do you hate women when they say that?

It's almost as annoying as men posting ignorant comments about what a woman should and shouldn't do.

Val:
Its a figurative way of illustrating the hypocricy of people that gasp at indecency.
Imagine a Christian housewife getting banged by the plumber. Gasping and guffawing at the shock and awe of his drilling her makes it more tintillating.

There was an episode once on Seinfeld where Elaine just can't stop smelling something utterly putrid. She keeps smelling it and commenting on how awful it is, but smells it again over and over again.
She said something akin to "This is.." sniff sniff "just awful, its..." sniff sniff " ....the most disgustingly weird...." sniff sniff".....nasty smell ever".

It doesnt make me hate women. As much as I hate the whole shock & awe mantra, I hate a thousandfold when its said by a woman.
