Well what legal reasons are there for being exempt from these taxes where you live?

Look at his taxes for the property, can't you see there's no taxes being collected?

You can be a 100 percent disabled veteran or blind or totally disabled to be a few of the ways tax exempt laws works here.

Well then why did you bring those up if they weren't possibly relevant?

What OTHER ways can one get a zero property tax where you live?

There aren't any others that I'm aware of and that is why I only told you about the ones I knew.

If you have an issue with your local laws, take it up with your local elected officials - you know, the ones who make the laws and enforce them.

Since I'm not privy to be told what "exemptions" this person has going , how do I make a case?

I've called already to the property appraisers office and they just brushed me off with saying they can't disclose that kind of information about someone.

How hard is it to call up your elected official and ask them the question you have asked here? How hard is it to go to a local media outlet and ask them the same question?

It sounds like you are trying to pursue a personal vendetta and or are being perceived as a kook by your local officals. That is probably why you are getting the brush off from appraisers office. You have already admitted there are exemptions in your law. Perhaps this person qualified under one of those exemptions. Show up at a public meeting and vent your concerns.

No , I was only curious as to what the property taxes that are being collected in this area where I live were with others. I just happened across this one in my research not to have a vendetta but only to see if everyone is paying the same as me per thousand dollars of home prices. I just seem to not be able to find this one persons exemption, perhaps they are on the witness protection program?

Well take it to those officals and get an answer. No one here has it.

You'll have to go ahead and knock on that person's door and ask them what the deal is. And if they don't want to tell you, you'll be reduced to reading through the local tax codes and figuring out what loopholes exist, and then speculating which one might apply to your neighbor.

I'll just have to use my political influence to find out but I find this whole thing very unsettling as why won't the office disclose the reason.

Well that was interesting. The property I was looking at online wasn't the actual property of the people who live in the house BUT it is the property of some unknown entity and it's not part of their land at all.

The person who I talked to will be looking into why that property was divided up into two separate parcels and get back to me soon. So the real property which is where the house is located has a completely different folio number which I found out about and they are paying the exact rate I am. So now I await the results of the investigation as to why this has happened but have resolved the primary question that eluded me.
