We thought his fans might like to get a peek at where this legendary author lives and writes. The following images and dialogue were recorded during the very special few hours Ray Bradbury opened up his home and office to you. Ray's office is in his basement, a fascinating warren of rooms beneath his Los Angeles home. In the main room, you can see Ray's desk and typewriter where he works every day. The room is lined with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, but as you can see, the shelves hold much more than books. There are toys, stuffed animals, masks from around the world, gifts from fans, and souvenirs picked up over the years having to do with books, theater, television, and film. http://www.raybradbury.com/about.html cosmictraveler 11-04-04, 05:33 PM This may help you, but I doubt you'll get anywhere, just keep asking around. http://www.destroy-all-monsters.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.cgi?board=newsitems&action=display&num=1052487704 marv 11-29-04, 11:42 AM Ray Bradbury, IMHO, the greatest SF wordsmith ever. Thanx AKAballer for asking and cosmic for answering. And cosmic, I got to see "The Day the Earth Stood Still" when it was first-run in theaters! Still try to catch every re-run on TV. One of the seminal SF movies! hotsexyangelprincess 11-29-04, 10:13 PM i thought he died... :m: marv 11-30-04, 09:33 AM No, hasp, surprisingly he's very much alive. Quite elderly, though. He was interviewed on the FOX news network the other day. But Asimov, de Camp, Sturgeon, del Rey and many of the other greats have passed on. The golden age of "hard" science fiction has passed I fear. Cut my SF teeth on Bradbury back in the '50s (19- not 18- :D) and his prose read like poetry, just rolled off the tongue. hotsexyangelprincess 12-01-04, 01:29 AM oh, well at least niven, pournelle, barnes, bova, and brin are still around, and not too old, i fear. :m: marv 12-05-04, 05:11 PM Bova was just getting his start when I got hot'n'heavy in SciFi. The others, I don't recognize. My "almost" complete list would include: Moore Padgett Leinster Sturgeon Russell Pratt del Rey Simak Brown Bradbury Leiber, Jr. Kornbluth Knight de Camp Blish Griffith Boucher Matheson Asimov van Vogt Clarke...and I can't forget Campbell's "Astounding Science Fiction", and his best known illustrator, Kelly Freas. Sadly, most of my favorites are gone now, but I still have their stories. |
