as always, apologies if a similar thread has been posted...
excuse me for saying, but this guy hits the nail on the head. in his latest book he envisions a world that is inhabited by largely nonbiological entities by the middle of the century.
not to say that this will come to pass, but it sets a good milestone. "we" will still be here, we will just be made from nuts and bolts, not flesh and blood. this calls into question who "you" are, and what being human means. but the reason i posted this here and not in culture is that mr. kurzweil has a long and distinguished history of being correct on the eventual turns of future events.
