I'm doing my senior project on magnetism by building a magnetic sculpture similar to the work of Bruce Gray (http://www.brucegray.com/htmlfolder/magneticsculptures.html).

The part I am having difficulty with is deciding what magnetic physics concept to explain. The content needs to be a little more advanced than just explaining about the north and south poles, but easy enough for the general public to understand. I was looking in to maybe the formula for calculating the magnetic field, but I'm having a difficult time understanding my research.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thank you.

How much electromagnetism have you done?

Close to none. I'm using only permanent neodymium magnets though.

I hope you will forgive me if this sounds even the smallest amount rude.

Your project is intended to be your project, not our project. It is proper that YOU must decide the important basis and content of YOUR project.

I'd suggest you start here and read up a bit:

If there's anything specific you want explained, people will be more willing to help!
