    Just thought of this today...

When a cross-dresser uses a public washroom, which side do they use?

ie, Would a man who dresses like a [convincing] woman use the men's washroom? Probably not. But is s/he allowed to use the women's? And what if "his" getup wasn't all that convincing? How would that make women feel if s/he used the women's?

I'm being totally serious about this. Just so you know, I don't have any problem with people doing this, I'm just curious-- who knows, maybe the next time I'm in the washroom and someone's in the stall letting loose it's actually a female

It is now the law for a licensed premises to provide a bucket for crossdressers to do their business in.

it was my understanding that the current laws relate to gender
so there is no real confusion to that end
unless they have had the required surgery
then it is most likely an offense to use the other toilet
assuming somone is offended by it and makes a report

the real issue is that women do not want men coming into their toilet rather than the other way round..

although surely unisex toilets would save lots of money!

Well...I don't know how much trouble they're really going to get in, either way, or what the chances of them getting caught.

If I saw a man in the ladies room, just a full on XY man, I wouldn't care, I wouldn't go running to the police. Then again old women probably would.

Which makes me think...God, I hate old people.

it seems to me that public toilets are just that!
    public
    and maybe.. just maybe...
there would be fewer problems if Public toilets were designed to be UniSex Public Toilets
combined changing areas for infants as men and women have them and share custody and responsibility
Parents often face issues when trying to juggle who takes the kids to the public toilet
    and lets face it
if you think there is something you wish to do in a Public toilet that would not be acceptable in a UniSex public Toilet
then maybe you should not be using the Public Toilet
    for what ever that is

    after all it is Public

    thats my thought anywho...

if given two choices, a person should use the washroom of the gender they most closely identify with. i wasn't aware there were any laws. the washroom sign makers trust that the public will use their best judgement in following or ignoring them. i don't think it matters much which you use. i've used the men's room plenty of times and i see boys in the ladies room all the time.
there was an article in the local independent newspaper about how the author has a hard time picking a washroom, as they are kind of inbetween genders. a blockbuster refused to let them into the washroom because the one for the gender they perceived this person to be was out of order.
