Why does it take horrific events to arouse the public to take stands on issues? A few examples:

*1993 World Trade Center bombing was pretty much overlooked until the 2001 event
*1988 Carrolton Bus Crash that killed a bunch of children was required to draw major attention to drunk driving
*There have been numerous incidents of fatalities due to texting while driving, but little has been done to curb it until it costs a great number of people their lives

It seems that humans like to overlook things until children are involved or great numbers are killed at once. It doesn't seem to matter when a few are killed each time, even though that adds up to much bigger numbers over a period of time.

how is terrorism an issue, you're either a terrorist or you aren't, plus it's not like the public can roam the street looking for someone carrying a bomb. as for drunk driving, there are already laws about it, there is only so much the public can do without getting rid of the constitution and killing drunk drivers, that's an individual failing, not a public one.
