Propoganda is probably accociated with being evil because of how effectively is was used by Nazi Germany, but really propoganda can be used to raise moral and for more positive causes, I don't think everyone here is a conspiricy theorist, so why claim the government is using propoganda for evil causes? I could see them used it to direct attention away from something, but that's not necessarily evi...take the stealth bomber, I'm sure propoganda was used to steer any kind of attention away from the project...that was one of the biggest military secrets post World War 2.

The intentions are not always what's questioned, hoppa. Rather, some citizens just don't like being lied to.

    You want the Truth?

    YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

    sorry....

But wouldn't you rather have someone else handle the problems and let them tell you things are alright, so you can go back to living a life without having to worry about another problem?

Propaganda implies that there's something to hide, and the thing being hidden is therefore being handled not in the interests of the common person.

propaganda..IS evil. Its disinformation, pure "IngSoc" type thing. I'm sure its not that extreme as in 1984 and other totalitarian societies (both real and not), but it is censorship of a sort. Anyone who tries to hide information or stop the free flow of information is just trying to rule his subjects' lives.

"....free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny....." some more stuff. From the computer game ALPHA CENTAURI.

What's wrong with censoring some things? A person couldn't handle all the violence and evil that happens in the world, it would be too much or desensitize them to it.

Grazzhoppa, I have this sublime feeling that you're testing our reactions to this opinion, one that I don't fully believe you support.

The truth is different for each person. There are over six billion truths on earth right now.

Propaganda is spread every day. Commercials are one form. Other forms (the harmful type that are shoved down your throat) I am against.

Personally, I dislike any propaganda that has to do with ethics. I have my own set and I don't think anybody has the right to inflict theirs on me.

    Grazzhoppa is a genius

The above quote is an almost perfect example of propoganda. Propoganda for propoganda itself. Before Grazzhoppa, I kneel. Noam Chomsky- eat your heart out.

That's what I was trying to get to. Not all is evil, the propaganda that messes with your ethics is the one that is bad. I just wanted to raise...I guess call it awareness.

I want to clear someting up for myself. Is being persuasive the same as making propaganda?

I would guess it would be propaganda if you were in it to change someones opinions or beliefs. Or maybe even for personal gain?

My definition of being persuasive is trying to change an opinion of someone. Thanks Counsler!

I believe it, that's why I posted it. I did want to get others' reactions and opinions too. I feel that we are subjected to propaganda everyday, most of the day, and it isn't all bad.
