I'm sure the exact required format is covered in the national curriculum, but generally;

Precis of what you want to research, an abstract. Keep it brief and high level.

Then, more detail.

What you want to research.

How you aim to perform the research. (tools, methodologies used)

What results you expect, and what conclusions you'd like to be able to draw from your data. Benefits from performing this research.

How long it will take.

and if it were a funding proposal, how much it will all cost, in manpower, it not ££££'s
