How many of you are Network+ and or CCNA?

I'm on the verge of taking the Network+ and would like any advice, hints, tips, walkthroughs

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

from vetrans on how to master the 4 domains that are covered in the Network+ exam.

    Thanks.

working on ccna , the intro part has some interesting stuff , although some basic info long explanation can be boring in few spots , it refreshes the mind , the icnd has more specific info , both parts are very very interesting , one funny thing u ll read about how cisco made protocols are the best and how brilliant cisco stuff is , i suggest fast reading when uu get to a paragraph like that ...

A+ here, I got lots of good info out of it - but I work for myself now and other certifications are only useful if you want to be an employee. Its MUCH cheaper to just study the same info on your own. My clients don't give a *#$& about what pieces of paper I have hanging on the wall, only how good of a job I do for them.

So I'd say if you are trying to get hired by folks, then I've heard good things about N+, MCNE, CCNA and I know A+ is good. But if you are going to be independant, do your own study program!

I agree for the most part with Gravity. The +'s and m$ courses are fine if you want to be an employee. As an employer I like to see people at least have an A+ and Network+. If they have those I know that I and my crew can teach them the rest. In my ever so humble opinion, by the time you can get some of these certifications you'll be outdated anyway. Plus experience very much outweighs any type of book learning (as long as you are retaining what you are learning in the work experience).

I have hired some people with a lot o certs only to find out they couldn't network their way out of a paper bag when it came down to it. But I guess I must be doing alright...have had my IT Company since 1998 and opening another one in a couple weeks.

Oh yeah...back to the question. Sorry I cannot be of more help, Kajolishot. Saying help me with the four domains is kinda vague. I mean...there is quite a bit although I know you are asking for tips from peeps that have taken it. I understand that in each cert there is more than one set of questions so someone even telling you answers prolly won't help.

If there is a specific element in any of the domains that you think you would have trouble keeping straight or remembering, it is possible that more people would have advice for you.

Yep, all true. And there is never any end to the learning, if you don't have a bit of a sick obsession with technology, and spend much of your free time reading about and tinkering with the stuff - you don't have a prayer of staying on top of it. And even then, you can't know anywhere near everything! There are hundreds of thousands of software and hardware engineers creating new technology *every day* - how can any one of us keep up with it all?! We just get very good at *finding* the right answers quickly!

I don't have any diplomas hanging on my wall, but I wouldn't mind working my way up the Cisco Certified ladder. If only I could do it for free...

Hmmm, mature response Philo. But the question was what is the point of even that? If its just for fun, cool - but if you are simply trying to show off your *stunning* HTML skills or spam the forum with animation, then its simply silly.

Perhaps his point was just to use Marquee scrolling text since not many people do on the net because of how annoying it really is. Admittedly I should get shot of such advertisements, however if I do so that will mean completely deleting those posts and replies about the marquee scrolls.
