It would seem the Duke Of Edinburgh has put his semi-royal foot in his mouth once again. http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/asia-pacific/newsid_1848000/1848813.stm The combination of the crazy genes from the House of Hanover and the Germanic fascism of Battenburg (a.k.a. Duke of Edinburgh) might explain why the current heir to the British throne behaves like a village idiot. This man, unconsciously, has conducted a crusade against the institution of the British monarchy for 50 years. Peace.
Kinda funny that, considering a lobby group of native Australians recently tried to make all aborigines exempt from Australian law so they could practice their own tribal laws on each other, including things like chucking spears at each other.
Adam and Goofy... I've noticed both things being reported, and cant honestly say which one is making me laugh more... I think the Prince, by a hair Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Prince Philip's Humor Still Unappreciated More points for Prince Philip in my book. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Peace.
I think it's kinda funny really. Good joke. I don't see any problem with it, except that people ared far too eager these days to be upset about things.
I was laughing when I read that You know, one of the funniest bits I ever heard was a Monty Python sketch I've only ever heard on The Final Rip-Off. It's a faux-advert for some method of overcoming embarrassment. I remember it made a few good jokes about English reserve, and I only wonder what ever happened to make it that way. (Megaphone?) But a friend and I were talking the other day when I saw the article on Yahoo! of all places (filed under "Oddly Enough") about the fact that Philip is representative of an Old Britain that just doesn't exist anymore. To wit: this kind of thing would is supposed to be unacceptable to us here in the US, but we all know it happens with our old folks, too. But we write it off because Philip is a bit of a joke to Americans. We chuckle at any particular portion of monarchy we see. Thus, like Ted Kennedy, George W Bush, or Jesse Helms (who is a dynasty unto himself), it doesn't bug us because we don't take Philip seriously. Like all things British, Americans consider the crown prince a bit of a joke. In the end, in fact, we appreciate Philip's humor because we need someone to go around being a royal ass sometime. Think of it this way: we have a lot of Norwegian jokes in Seattle, most of which are exploitative. This is because of Ballard, which has (or, at least, had) a high concentration of Norwegian-descended people. Ballard is also the subject of a few other jokes (e.g. driving). Red Hook's IPA, called Ballard Bitter, features the phrase, "Ya, sure, you betcha!" on the label, hearkening to a joke about Ballard High School's fight song. (I can't remember it well enoguh to tell you here.) Ballard even has a Norwegian society. And people find this exceptionally humorous. Nor does it spare the King of Norway from jokes of marginal taste when he comes to Ballard. Something about monarchies, mates. thanx, Tiassa Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
