15 million working families enjoyed tax relief under President Clinton's expanded Earned Income Tax Credit. Thanks to Clinton, the EITC lifted 4.3 million people out of poverty in 1998 alone.

1.5 million children benefited when Clinton more than doubled federal funding for child care.

President Clinton signed a bad "welfare reform" bill in 1996, but Clinton vetoed a worse bill twice, winning concessions each time including - increased child care funding (by $4 billion), worker retraining, extensions for benefits, exceptions for "hard cases" and more.

Clinton increased funding for the Head Start program by 90 percent in FY 2000 so 880,000 children had a better chance to learn and grow.

Clinton forced the minimum wage up from $4.25 to $5.15 per hour and demanded an increase to $6.15.

Clinton's Workforce Investment Act reformed the nation's employment and training system.

Clinton's AmeriCorps gave 150,000 young people the opportunity to serve in their communities while earning money for college or skills training.

President Clinton's One America initiatives challenged us to respect others' differences and embrace the common values that unite us. "o close the opportunity gaps that exist for minorities and the underserved in this country."

The poverty rate fell from 15.1 percent in 1993 to 12.7 percent in 1998. That's the lowest poverty rate since 1979 and the largest five-year drop in poverty in nearly 30 years (1965-1970).

The African-American poverty rate dropped from 33.1 percent in 1993 to 26.1 percent in 1998 -- the lowest level ever recorded and the largest five-year drop in African-American poverty in more than a quarter century (1967-1972).

The poverty rate for Hispanics fell to the lowest level since 1979, and dropped to 25.6 percent in 1998.

African-American unemployment fell from 14.2 percent in 1992 to 7.3 percent in March 2000 -- the lowest rate on record.

The unemployment rate for Hispanics fell from 11.6 percent in 1992 to 6.3 percent in March 2000 -- and in the last year has been at the lowest rate on record.

For women the unemployment rate was 4.3 percent in March 2000, nearly the lowest since 1953 .

In 1999, the homeownership rate was 66.8 percent -- the highest ever recorded. Minority homeownership rates were also the highest ever recorded.

Under President Clinton and Vice President Gore, child poverty declined from 22.7 percent in 1993 to 18.9 percent in 1998 -- the biggest five-year drop in nearly 30 years.

The poverty rate for African-American children fell from 46.1 percent in 1993 to 36.7 percent in 1998 -- the lowest level in 20 years and the biggest five-year drop on record.

The rate also fell for Hispanic children, from 36.8 percent to 34.4 percent - and is now 6.5 percentage points lower than it was in 1993.

To be sure, at least the cigar industry enjoyed the Clinton years.

Sure, they were quiet years. But Clinton was basically carried by the post Cold War '90s boom. It a time like that, a goldfish could have been president and gotten good numbers.

We no longer had to battle with the Soviet Union for supremacy. Endless trade possibilities had opened up with the collape of their circles of power. We were in the middle of an electronics and technology revolution. Things did so well in spite of Clinton, not because of him.

I wonder what you think of all the federal spending Bush has signed off on?

Other than that your post is pointless and meaningless. The measure of any president is not in how much federal (i.e. American citizens) dollars are redistributed.

So I ask exactly what is your point?

Mod edit: dont just copy other peoples posts, if you want to respond to it RESPOND

My point is people talk about how bad Clinton was as a president which I strongly disagree on. I already posted a thread on what he did with terrorism so I'm wondering how can people compare W. and Clinton.

    v. whined, whin·ing, whines
    v. intr.
To utter a plaintive, high-pitched, protracted sound, as in pain, fear, supplication, or complaint.

You complain about the people complaining to the Bush administration more than the people who should be complaining.

What do you expect them to do? Watch as Bush and the neo-cons take down america without putting up a fight? Without asking questions? And what you complain about liberals complaining is the only thing they can do. They are soon to lose the scotus, the are in the minority in the house and senate, and Bush is in the White house. All the people who have opposed the Bush administration have been fired. (I.E C.I.A officials, pentagon officials, Military officials.) And been replaced with far right wing dudes who are basically Bush's bitch. You spend more time complaining about what we complain about than pointing out what the (AT THE MOMENT) republican controlled senate, house, scotus, and President are doing. And what you do say is most of the time wrong. AND when someone says this is wrong you begin a long list of Fuck you i know i lie i don't give a fuck defense.

i admit, i do say some shit thats not true.
but most of that is just exaggerated non-sense poking fun at beliefs and cultures.
Plus, i do give sources if i am defending Bush.
and i only complain about you whinning, is because u do it so much!
    so then i have to.

i try to defend Bush, but its hard in this site, and even you know that.
if i say ONE thing that might be wrong, i am dichotomized into rubbish.
even if i am right, its still hard to present a strong statement against this harsh, peanut gallery.

But, i will never change anyone's mind on Bush until he is gone.
I think i did get you to admit that you agreed with Bush on one issue.

If you really think that Bush will destroy America, than i shall never change your thoughts to match mine.

Clinton's morals is/was probably ( I hate to say it) worst than Bush's. As a president, he was much much better. At least he didn't start a 'needless' war.

sorry to rain down on clintonfest (note that I definetly do not support Bush's policies) but Bill Clinton was probably responsible for more Iraqi deaths than Bush ever will. 1/2 million children under 5 killed as a direct consequence of UN sanctions (US restricting most of the imports).

Clinton's Secretary of State said about the 1/2 million dead children: "we think the price is worth it."

How soon we forget. The sanctions ended and Iraqis were rewarded with Bushes bombs and the effects of DU. Iraq is truely America's (and the world's) toilet. It is an example of every nation to avoid becoming (ex. Iran). "We ain't gonna become like that crap hole Iraq. let's get Nukes! Quick!"
