This is number six in a series of pranks these two guys play on each other. This one involves a fake marriage proposal sent over the Jumbo Tron at Yankee Stadium.

It's got to be one of the funniest pranks ever.

Could you hear any of the conversation between the guy and the girl? The girl said, "Yes." to the marriage proposal, and then the guy said, "I don't want to fuckin' marry you!" So she hit him.

I've always wanted to rent a helicopter and drop golf balls on someone's house. Preferably someone who has a metal roof.

At least the prank was funny and not mean. It was a proposal and not a dump.

I really can't believe the guy didn't just play it off as though he was the one who made the proposal. The poor girl already said yes!

Maybe he didn't do that because he didn't want to marry her? Given her bad temper, I can't say I blame him.

You can always break the engagement later. Why humiliate her on the jumbo tron?

Exactly. Still, the video wouldn't have been nearly as entertaining if the guy had had any class.

He reacted without any tact because he was caught on the spot, much like a deer in the headlights. If that had happened to me, I would have been in such a shock that I would forget the meaning of 'tact' (not that I know much about it in the first place).

But then again, I'm sure that you're such a 'smooth operator', that you could easily sleaze your way out of the situation. In your dreams...

Well, I don't think I'd have yelled, "I don't want to fuckin' marry you"!

What's wrong with saying "I don't want to fuckin' marry you!"? I guess he could have dropped the 'fuckin', but he was in 'holy shit' mode. IMHO, he handled it pretty well.

Do you think it would have been less jerk-like if he'd 'led her on'? Not told her straight up? Yes, that would have been a very manly thing to do. Either way, he can't win. Tell her straight up and be a jerk for 'humiliating' her, or lie and be a jerk for 'leading her on'.

He might have humiliated her a little in public (in fact, she wouldn't have been humiliated to begin with if she had have composed herself), but not nearly to the same degree as she humiliated him. So let's just say that I'm very unsympathetic to the girl's plight. It's a pity he didn't slap her back.

Yes, I do. Being engaged, without a ring and a date, is not much different than just "going steady". Stay engaged as long as you want to keep going out with her, just don't set a date. Hell, if he'd played it off right, he'd probably have gotten laid that night instead of getting a punch in the face.

I see. Lead her on. Courage personified, eh?

Of course, women claim to want the truth. But when they get it... "Pow".

It's called a "white lie". He didn't create the situation. Going with the flow would spare the woman's feelings.
Yeah, women want the truth. LOL As Jack Nicholson said,
"You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!"

No. A 'white lie' is a trivial untruth. Giving a woman the impression that you want to marry her is far from 'trivial'.

He didn't create the situation, so he's justified in telling a huge whopper, instead of attempting to fix it?

Until he dumps her 6 months down the track, and she finds out that he wasn't serious to begin with. Wow, wouldn't that go down well? The repurcussions of her finding out that he was leading her on (which she most likely will, because this guy's big mouthed friends will no doubt tell her that it was just a prank) are far worse than just telling her flat out.

The woman in question should be grateful that he didn't mess with her feelings, and trap her in a empty relationship based on falsehoods. How would such a relationship be, when one party isn't actually interested in having a relationship? A woman (or man) deserves better than to be in a relationship with an uninterested and insincere party.

It looks we are in agreement here.

6mths down the road?? No, he tells her as soon as teh camera is off him. Just play it off and when you have a moment explain to her that is was a prank played on him as well as her.
I know I'd rather have that than the reaction he gave in front of everyone. How humiliating.
If you want to call it a lie, fine. I call it sensitivity and tact.

That's not what madan suggested. He stated that the guy should have played it off long enough to get laid indefinitely. It might have been prudent to tell her once the camera was 'off him', but as I mentioned earlier, he was shocked. You don't act with 100% rationality when your entire world is turned upside down. I doubt it had even processed in the guy's mind that he'd been pranked.

What a pity. When a woman is humiliated, it's a national disaster. When a man is humiliated, it's a laughing matter. *shrugs*

I wonder what people would say if the situation had have been reversed? And if the woman had have screamed "I don't wanna fuckin' marry you!" after being pranked? And she had been humiliated in front of an entire stadium after the guy slapped her in the face for 'lacking tact'? I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar that the guy who slapped her wouldn't leave the stadium alive, and the poor humiliated woman would get bucketloads of sympathy.

So you've always acted with 'sensitivity and tact' when caught on the fly? You must be a very level headed individual!

Added to which, did the woman in this scenario act with 'sensitivity and tact'? If she didn't, why do you expect the guy to do so? Double standards, methinks!

Your right, the slapping part is a double standard. But that doesn't mean he couldn't have handled it better. And yes, I do tend to remain level headed. Its usually when I get a chance to think it all out that I fly off the handle.
    How was the man humiliated?
