Nice. Just as a side note Dreamy, just to pass a few minutes by, if you were to die tommorow, What do you think your obituary would say if each of these people were to write a short statement about you? A family member, A work associate, and a freind? Try and awnser truthfully now big guy! ProCop 09-25-04, 02:34 PM What central idea in your philosophy has provided you with the most consistant happiness or measurable progress in your life? :p It was an idea (not mine) in an article about psychology which poroposed some general schema of inclinations most people have: It said that there are a number of "churches" which people choose to "be member of" or to follow: these were the church of power, the church of knowlegde, the church of justice, the church of the military, the church of doing good/helping and possibly more such grose divisions/ fields. Well I chose/was inclined to the church of knowledge, and it was pretty good to sketch down what I wanted from my life what I wanted basically. The chaples of my "church" were then libraries, schools, universities musea, so while others eg. went to campain for their candidate in elections (church of power) I wrote articles about exhibitions..(a friend went as volunteer to afrika (church of doing good) )..I think it sensible to figure such basic direction early in life, because eg. I had a chance to go to politics and possibly I could have made some difference doing that, but it was not fully compatible with my basic orientation. I judge it a good decission now because if I went to politics I wouldn't have had the stregth to cope with the frustrations which it sometimes brings becouse it it wasn't in line with my church.. it was not really my basic direction. In the church of knowledge there are some frustration too naturally, but I can cope with them, because I stand fully behind what I do. You can call it having a conviction, if you wish. Dreamwalker 09-25-04, 02:34 PM Ok, thatīs tough. I really cannot answer that. First, my family is kinda widespread over some countries, I also do not have work associates since I do not work. I only have colleagues and those that are not my friends normally do not converse with me to any great extend. What my friends would say I also cannot answer since many have different perceptions of me, most just thinking that I am unpredictable. Since that is also true for them I have no clue. I suppose some might quote Goethe or Nietzsche, others would make joking remarks. Nah, you would need predictable and boring people to answer this question, but I do not like those kind of people... moementum7 09-26-04, 02:56 PM Thanks for sharing that Procorp. And also thanks for the initial effort on your part Dreamwalker! See you round. firdroirich 09-28-04, 03:27 AM Balance in as many aspects as is sanely possible seems to work for me. Work, play, learning, playing etc. I never get bored & that's a big step in keeping focus & perspective. fadingCaptain 09-28-04, 11:07 AM "Life is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel." - Horace Walpole I think. It has a marvelously anxiety reducing effect. Dreamwalker 09-29-04, 04:18 PM "no-self" like in no individual and we are all one and interconnected and so on?
