For scientists, as for society at large, marijuana has been among the most bedeviling of drugs.

Some studies have found that the illicit substance damages the memory. Others suggest that it doesn’t, or even that it’s beneficial for some conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease. Through it all, the public clamors for answers—desperately needed to resolve a decades-long, raucous debate over whether pot is safe enough to be legal.

A theory now emerging from a research group proposes that the truth may be more complex than either side in that debate would have us believe. Marijuana may have played a trick on us all, they suggest, by playing the roles of both health villain and hero.

In hefty doses, they argue, its active ingredient may protect the brain against various types of damage, whereas in tiny doses, harmful effects would come through.

The bad doses would be much lower than those normally obtained from smoking a “joint,” argues Yosef Sarne of Tel Aviv University in Israel, a member of the research team. On the other hand, he notes, a large dose inevitably becomes a small one as the body slowly clears it out—so perhaps a user can never sidestep the dangers completely.

Sarne and five colleagues at the university presented findings in support of their hypothesis in the Nov. 6 issue of the research journal Neuroscience Letters.

The real question would be if the Researchers are truly Impartial or are they looking for the proverbial holy grail of proving it's "positive effects".

I mean you can apply that any drug applied in a constant dose will eventually normalise the bodies ability to deal with it's toxicity, this means increasing the dosage to gain a greater hit. In more serious drugs (Heroine and of course Nicotine) this can cause physical dependencies to occur which for the most part counters any and all positive effects that could be given.

While Cannabis for a long while has had it's devotee's contest that it causes dependencies, there is however a peer-pressure rooted social subculture to defend it's use to the up most. This is where some can suggest that it causes psychological issues in regards to it's use. (e.g. a pro-drug Mentality)

I guess what I'm getting around to saying is that I don't think it makes sense to suggest that a "Greater Dose" is going to create less negative changes to a persons physiology, in fact I would hazard a guess that if a course of dosage was taken regularly and then suddenly stopped it would actually cause a negative "withdrawal" although not as severe as Cigarettes (This is because it takes weeks for the drug to pass through your system and months if not years for the brain to recover it's natural equilibrium).

Those "greater dosses" would only lead the researchers to more researching the affects/effects of pot on those who enjoy using it for the research wouldn't it? :m:

    AS A CERTIFIED POTHEAD

I see Pot being both good and bad

I mean too much of anything is bad.

When i overdue pot,i become lazy and my memory does become rugged as hell

When i smoke enough,i get a nice high, its actually therapeutic,my senses are so much sharper.I remember being outside in the dark last night,my senses were dull and i was smoking, all of sudden it was like night vision occured a bit,i walked out of my gate, unbothered,it was like i could see,my senses were sharp as hell, sometimes i would hear shit and my head would quickly turn around because the sound was almost like it was next to my ear drum. This is just one of the reasons i think there is a programmer of some sort,i ask who the hell put this here to help me lol.If life is seen as a game Marijuana could be equivalent to the mushroom in Mario. It causes him to run faster, act faster, more agility and he moves confidence lol.Marijuana increases hunger which adds energy (depending what you eat),i focus much better.I get irritated when i smoke and i want to relax and just think and someone bothers me.My family hates it,however i use it to think clearer.I notice my thought process is alot more clear,i form ideas much better, when i have sex it is long lasting and intense lol.Music is clear and crisp.I can sleep so well on Marijuana,it relaxes me.It is the best thing to smoke before a test.

    AWWWWWW :m:MARIJUANA:m:
