With events moving closer to a possible war with Iraq
Three U.S. Air Force B-1 bombers left their South Dakota home base Wednesday for deployment in the Persian Gulf region for possible military action over Iraq
in case Bush decides to pursue military options against Iraq.
The National Security Council met at the White House Wednesday to continue discussions on military plans in Iraq, including shifting key command personnel to the region in case of war. Gen. Tommy Franks, the commander of U.S. forces deploying for a possible war with Iraq,
the president and others, including Vice President Dick Cheney, have asked detailed questions about possible military contingencies in Iraq
"If he [Saddam Hussein] does not abide, he will be disarmed by force," British Prime Minister Tony Blair told the House of Commons Wednesday.
The wars go ever on and on...all from CNN.com.
Given the evidence, the US is going to war. We're moving thousands of troops, dozens of planes, and dozens of naval units to the Persian Gulf. Nothing could stop this from happening a year ago, nothing can stop it from happening now; in fact it looks as if it would take an alien invasion for the US to shift its sights to other peoples to bomb. I don't doubt that US casualties will be light, as they always have been [in the region], but also that many innocent civilians will perish at the gluttony of our pilot's trigger fingers. Their blood will likely mix with the oil we'll heat our homes with ten years or so down the line.
