View Full Version : Possible Policy's
darksidZz 05-02-07, 01:00 PM Correct. There has been no violation of any rules.
This thread is seeking opinions of sciforums members. On the basis of the opinions of members, policy about sciforums rules can then be formulated. The last step is to apply the new rules (if any).
Thus my thread seeks to do the same as his, only it gives tons more options :)
PS The below should be updated:
Members - Don't a ranking system to give a % of respect they have earned
Members - Don't allow a ranking system to give a % of respect they have earned
Insults - Religion, education, sexual preference, etc. (specify # of days)
Insults Ban You - Religion, education, sexual preference, etc. (specify # of days)
Insults - Religion, education, sexual preference, etc.
Insults Don't Ban You - Religion, education, sexual preference, etc.
thedevilsreject 05-02-07, 01:07 PM the polls invalid, dont make every poll you make public
kenworth 05-02-07, 01:12 PM polls make me sad.they are useless
Insults Ban You - Religion, education, sexual preference, etc. (specify # of days)
Insults Don't Ban You - Religion, education, sexual preference, etc.
Insults don't ban you - the mods do. (Except in Soviet Russia...)
What's this madness?
Is there a nice and quiet darksidZz policy?
darksidZz 05-02-07, 02:11 PM Polls - Limit them (specify a # per month)
I chose this because I feel there is some confusion on the purpose of polls. They serve as a method to gain insight, that being which members believe this or that on a particular topic.
Bans - Erase all previous ones (a clean slate!)
I feel this would be beneficial merely because those members who are banned probably have forgotten their passwords by now, not to mention the fact they likely don't even recall SciForums. I would suggest a complete erasure of the database whose usernames are banned, thus freeing these up for other new members to use.
ToR - Bring her back
I felt there wasn't much purpose to ban her, wasn't she a long-time member?
imaplanck - Bring him back
He was a nice fellow and stood up for me in the past, of course I've no idea why he was banned but I don't think it's so important since it's been months, an months.
Voting - Bring back member ratings
I'm not entirely sure what this would mean to members but perhaps it would be somewhat interesting for them.
Insults Bannable - Religion, education, sexual preference, etc. (specify # of days)
I think maybe around 3 days being banned would be a good idea, it would encourage more discussion rather than meandering arguements.
Moderators - Allow a ranking system to increase their powers
This would give members a way to show whose moderation techniques they agree with and whose they do not.
Members - Allow a ranking system to give a % of respect they have earned
It would give members a way to gauge their effect on the community as a whole.
Forums - Merge some (specify which)
There are to many IMO
Forums - Don't create more
We need to merge some, there are many with similar notions.
Purge threads after awhile (specify how long)
I just think after 12 months all threads prior should be deleted, why keep 1 year old threads?
Forums - Let members vote to close threads
This would be somewhat interesting to test out. It would allow you to decide based on a system which threads are of value.
I just thought a practical way to accomplish this. With the opening of any new thread there would be a voting box, in this area you could select if you like it or want it shut down. After say 12 hours if more people vote to close it then it is completely erased from the server or just locked.
Let members vote to remove moderators from power
Only if democracy is real :p
Lock all threads after a certain # of days
No use in drudging up the old ones.
Let polls only be opened on certain days
It would help calm your anger at me :C~
domesticated om 05-02-07, 03:00 PM I vote the sysop disable polling altogether for the time being. I feel like I'm in grade school again, and the one ADHD-ritalin student has discovered the joy of pulling the fire alarm.
Stryder 05-02-07, 03:03 PM darksidZz,
You are addicted to polls, however I believe subconsciously it's polls of the wrong kind. The sort of poles you are looking for are like the one in the image below:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/nottingham/content/images/2006/05/12/pole_dancing_john_holmes_01_300x470.jpg
Btw, thats the BBC's Radio Nottingham John Holmes showing his unrelated radio presenter skills.
I would of shown one of the others found on a google of 'pole dance', however they involve scantily clad women and it might be a little too much for you.

Do you have any idea what a pain it was to click on all of those ?
You, sir, are a kapusta head.
The Devil Inside 05-04-07, 11:05 AM i just voted for all of em.
"the buckshot" strategy.
spuriousmonkey 05-04-07, 12:50 PM I voted for none of them. The 'slacker' approach.
leopold99 05-04-07, 12:56 PM i voted for all the wrong ones, the anarchist approach.
I voted in a different poll. The idiot approach.
Athelwulf 05-05-07, 06:26 PM I didn't vote at all the apathetic approach.
