http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...stance-armys-new-reign-of-terror-2051298.html Well this is clearly an example of resistance to freedoms in America. What say you? An Iranian involvement is highly likely.
Perhaps an obvious question Wow. I haven't been paying close enough attention. When did Kony convert?
I don't think he has, but if Islamicising his name will help bring the Congo situation to the attention of the world...?
I was hoping nirakar would pop in and give us his input on Congo. I am completely unfamiliar with what is going on over there. Why are they killing each other? Are they simply at the mercy of this guy here?
Let us pretend for just a little while that he is a manchurian candidate type. He was recruited for MK Ultra program, and he has been brainwashed into this sadistic demagogue. We can pretend. Factual reality may differ. Results are atypical.
Point taken Ah. I see. Point taken. Sorry to miss it the first time around. I hope I didn't spoil an ironic, or otherwise more subtle point.
Not specifically to S.A.M. : No, we the readers of the stenographers for power sort of got suckered again on the "Lord's Resistance Army" story. I found a source for anybody that wants a deeper understanding of the Lord's resistance Army: http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...d's resistance army" france sudan&hl=en&gl=us They are as brutal or almost as brutal as alleged but apparently they are not just cultist whackos. From the link: "Active LRA fighters have said that they do not fight the war for the chairman (Kony). They see themselves as fighters for their people, the Acholi, whom they believe to be marginalized abused, and excluded from Uganda’s development by an oppressive regime. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acholi_people The LRA has been at war with Yoweri Museveni ever since he overthrew Tito Okello an Acholi in 1985. Museveni has brutally repressed and Acholi and all his enemies. Most Western media coverage about the LRA starts as Ugandan government information. ............................................................................................................. Back to Congo First the slave trade and what Africans did to each other to supply Europeans with slaves was Brutal. Then Belgian King Leopold Kills off a million people of Congo as a byproduct of his effort to force them to give him rubber. Any wonder Congo might be a bit violent and dysfunctional? Trauma does not just heal it gets passed to the next generation. From independence Congo imediately descended into civil war. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congo_Crisis Would Lumumba have been a good leader if he could have consolidated power? Probably not. The other African first wave of post-colonial leaders did not turn out to well. Still the West should not have sabotaged Lumumba. Mobutu the USA's choice to lead was a bad man and a thief. ........................... By the 1990s France seemed to be engaged in a proxy war with the USA/UK alliance for influence in certain parts of Africa. The USA and UK were backing Museveni/Uganda and the Tutsi while the French backed the Hutu Some say the Germans and Belgians created the Hutu and Tutsi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origins_of_Tutsi_and_Hutu The Hutu and Tutsi probably existed prior to colonization but colonization made them more of a reality than they had been and heightened tensions between them. Did you ever wonder where the Tutsi Army suddenly came from that ended the Rwandan genocide. Why did the Western media not think the was worth investigating as they told of the horrific genocide. It came from Uganda staffed by Ugandan soldiers of Tutsi ethnicity paid for and armed in part by the USA and UK. A few years earlier in 1990 The Ugandans/Tutsi tried an invasion of Rwanda and were defeated by the Rwandan Hutu government only because troops from Zaire/Congo/Mobutu and French troops intervened on the side of the Hutu. Had we had a quality media in 1990 we would have realized that Mobutu was no longer the USA's close ally but rather was Frances ally and we might have seen that the stage was set for major war in Africa. The Rwandan genocide was the Hutus ruthless attempt to not lose control of the nation where they were the majority. The Tutsi army was on it's way backed by Uganda and the USA and the French were not going to be able to stop them this time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Congo_War The larger second Congo War. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Congo_War After the second Congo War there were still many armies in Congo and the killing and rape-athon did not stop. Even UN troops got into the Congo national sport of rape. Under UN supervision (with UN troops from places like Guatemala and Pakistan actually getting into battles) The official Congo Army has slowly been defeating the smaller free-lance militias and has incorporated some of their former enemy armies into their army. Congo's army is not well paid and is not trustworthy and not all units have stopped raping and looting. A bunch of articles in 2008 put the 2008 war related deaths in Congo at 45,000 a month. Here is a link to one of them http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSL2280201220080122 A recent article http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Afri...als-legislation-may-not-help-in-eastern-Congo "Why recent US 'conflict minerals' legislation may not help in eastern Congo" There still are several independent militaries operating in Congo. China has signed deals with Congo. That probably displeases the USA. Everybody still wants Congo's vast mineral wealth. The report said: "In one corner, there was already cooked flesh from bodies and two bodies being grilled on a barbecue and, at the same time, they prepared her two little girls, putting them alive in two big pots filled with boiling water and oil." http://www.smh.com.au/news/World/Co...iled-victims-UN/2005/03/17/1110913739872.html
Thanks nirakar, thats a lot of information to take in. Thanks for the paraphrasing and all the associated links of details Human beings are really the shittiest creatures on earth, aren't they?
Hearkening back to a recent discussion on Iran and sodomy, and the issue came up about Islamic nations, and Africa. One thing I have noted, and not to be racist, but Africa seems to have a nice modern history of genocide along racial grounds. Rwanda? That whole thing? One ethnic group against another? Seems that some of these truly backwater areas on the planet have bizarre superstitions, regardless of any religious or national affiliations. I mean, there are so many ethnic groups and religions and age old rivalries and stuff. Talk about racist. These people are all BLACK. Yet they seem to be able to be just as racist as white versus black. Whatever that means. Where was that, Uganda? Where albino people were being killed because of superstition? If that's true about the cannibalism and boiling people alive (totally sick), I honestly can't say what the hell motivates those people. This whole Islamic Army thing... let's get real. That was just a little cheap, S.A.M. I didn't read the links you provided until now. There was no Islamic Lord's Army. Not that it fooled me, really. I didn't think it had much to do with religion in the first place. Seemed pretty silly. Point made. But just a little cheap. Actually, deliberately misquoting is very cheap. Oh, well. Shadow1 doesn't think reading links is very important either.
Sorry, S.A.M. That deliberate insertion of "Islamic" was kind of... dishonest? Just plain silly? Though I like to read sources and links, I don't always, and I didn't in this case. That was a failure on my part, though I was really just skimming the surface either way. To deliberately add that word is ridiculous. What was that about?
