Has anyone heard of this band?

I friend of mine referred me to it a long time ago and I've had it on my list for a while, but have only started listening to it incessantly very recently.

Man these guys are geniuses. Incredible musicians, amazing bassist, amazing guitarist, and the compositions are incredibly well-written and executed. I liken their style in some respects similar to Pink Floyd, but with more variety.

Listen to this band. Oh man, I'm hooked. For a first song I'd recommend "Trains". So if you're interested in listening to a good new band that will not disappoint, check out this band!

Their recent albums are more like a heavier version of A Perfect Circle.

Eww. I don't like that comparison. Porcupine Tree is a lot easier listening than A Perfect Circle. The vast majority of A Perfect Circle's songs would never be considered for air play by must radio DJs, especially in terms of A Perfect Circle's - Emotive album.

I got their single 'Shallow', which I don't really like. Sounds like A Perfect Circle, somewhat. You know all those knock off bands that followed STP, like Creed and Nickelback and all the others? Then they sort of changed their noise to fit the growing trend towards the indie?

Sounds like that. Pop indie. No thanks.

    Tell me I'm wrong?

Oh yeah, man. Completely wrong. Check out more of their other songs. Ugh... Nickleback sucks unbelievable orangutan gall bladder.

You're what? 19? College? Must have good Internet bandwidth. Download these songs: Trains, Cholorform, Blackest Eyes, Piano Lessons, Deadwing. Especially Deadwing.

I understand what you mean though. Shallow taken out of context seems, well, shallow.
