I never thought of this when I was a kid, but why didn't (I Dream of) Jeanie or Samantha from "Bewitched" just do their thing, and cure cancer or end the war in Viet Nam? And why did they have to hide their powers? Which one of them would have prevailed in a Battle Royal? Could Samantha make Superman turn into a gnat by twitching her nose? Why did Jeanie waste her powers by simply making things float across a room? Why did she call a mere mortal "Master"? Could Jeanie run faster than the Flash?
Similar problems also existed in the "Broomhilda" comic strip---one minute;unlimited powers, the next minute; no powers at all. At any rate, a TV movie for all-time: Jeanie vs Samantha. I give Elizabeth Montgomery the nod in the looks department, though.

Jeannies are supposed to have more power than witches. Both use the same molecular configurator like the star trek holodeck except that Jeannies are supposed to have a bigger power plant/ energy base.

What they do is limited to the writer's imagination or lack of.

Best super power was potrayed by Q in Star Trek that can move in space and time as well as reconfigure matter. I give the writer credit for keeping the power level correct in most episodes.

Witches have to worry about the right incantations because the power source interface may not understand what a witch is trying to do ( the commands)- it is like a child trying to use Adobe Illustrator.

Someday, like in about 200 years, we could develop systems that can take command and do stuff that will look like witches work to the Amish! (provided they are shut of from technology and knowledge that long).

I imagine there was a "Prime Directive" to not interfere with the affairs of mortals. Samantha strayed.

Jeannies are in debt to the human who lets them out of the bottle.

But who has more power, and why didn't they end all wars and cure cancer and bring Thurman Munson back to life?

end all wars?

The writer does not want to....

No drama you know.....:D

point taken...but still...Samantha vs. Superman: who would prevail? Would Jeannie have the chops to cut it in Asgaard?

Samantha vs. Superman

Draw. Even if Samantha sends superman back in time, he can come back - I think.

Jennie will have more power including time travel, creating matter out of nothing, even a bus load of clowns...

Yes, history has shown that Superman can reverse the Earth's rotation in order to go back in time. I think if he pulls this stunt again, all our posts will be wiped out. After that, all bets are off...
