Somebody edited my poll on the World Events section. http://sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=67501 I created that poll with only 2 choices. Somebody edited it, and added 2 extra line items. You cannot just add line items to polls created by members of this forum just because you feel like it. Espeically in the middle of the poll. There is no justification for this. That poll is meant to only have 2 choices. Adding another choice just to fit your needs it totally immature.
*sigh* I added 2 options to the poll. The poll question was: Why does the world hate America? The options you provided, lixluke, were: 1. They are jealous of America's freedom. 2. They are tired of America's oppression and terror. Now, quite obviously, there are other reasons that the world might hate America, if indeed it does hate America. So, your poll was, on the face of it, incomplete. The simplest way to rectify the deficiency was to add an option, which I did: 3. Other (explain in thread) Now, as all good pollsters know, sometimes people prefer not to express a view, or in fact do not have a view on the poll question. Hence, it is good practice always to include an option such as: 4. Don't know/don't care Now, we could argue further about what is "totally immature". I would argue that starting this complaint thread is "totally immature" and you would argue that I'm evil and I should be removed as moderator for altering your holy poll. We'd go back and forth and nothing would be resolved. But, seeing as I'm feeling a little under siege right now, I think I'll skip this one, if you don't mind.
Grow up and calm down. Under siege? Do you even have the slightest bit of intelligence of professionalism? 1. Your addition of those 2 line items into a poll started by a member of Sciforums was not only abusive use of mod privies and completely unethical, but totally against the scirules. 2. As for starting a complaint thread being totally immature, get real, and learn some professionalism. If you abuse the system, and violate scirules, do you actually believe it is immature to start a thread to complain about it? 3. Taking it personal and crying about being targeted has nothing to do with the facts at hand. I didn't even know it was you who violated th mod privies in the first place. I could care less which mod did it. It is a violation nonetheless. 4. Starting a complaing thread about a mod screwing around with a poll is immature, and you would argue that I am evil and I should be removed as mod and bla irrelevant bla girlie rant bla bla bla bla bla. . . Try growing up, and dealing with the issue professionally. ISSUE 1. It abusive to alter polls created by members. 2. It is unethical to alter polls created by members. 3. It is a voilation of mod privilages to alter polls that scirules does not deem illegitimate. 4. Members should start threads in the feedback section if a mod violates the rules. 5. If whichever mod altered the poll would like to respond like an adult about a serious situation, all the better. Those girly 'take it personal' rants are completely irrelevant to these facts.
Meh, I agree with Cool Skill here. If the pool didn't break any rules, there was no justification in editing it, if the pool author himself hadn't asked for that. It's against authorship laws of most countries to change authors work without his consent, and even more so without making it publicly known. Even stupid members have a right to their stupidity.
I can't believe I'm saying this but Luke Licker is right. It's a stupid poll, and the selections are innane and leave no room for any real responses, but that doesn't mean it should be edited and "fixed" by a mod. If I were to give Luke Licker more credit than I do, I would say he purposely left only those two options to underscore the inanity of taking any of the extreme positions, and point out the futility of thinking of such complex issues in such a Black & White manner.] Alas, I don't have enough faith in Luke Licker to suggest such a thing.

I gotta agree with lix---if he wants to post dumb ass polls let him. Obviously he was trying to create a controversial poll where a lot of people would get mad and start shouting at each other. Why don't you start adding options to darksidZz polls that say "You need to get a woman."
I can still remember when I made a poll to determine if 95% of men are sexually attracted to men. The question was: Do you as a man have a sexual need for other men? And I had made 3 options: Yes, all the time Yes, sometimes no, never Adding up the first two options and comparing it with the second one would have clearly disproved the hypothesis of buddha1 that 95% of all men have a sexual need for men. And then some wanker added the option. I'm not a man. Well, that was covered in the question that you are not a man. I would suggest before you present your argument in court, it would appear a little more professional if you corrected the simple 4-letter word you misspelled three times in two posts. This said, I am not disagreeing that making additions to serious, well-conceived polls could lead to abuse, but making such an issue out of these silly, ill-conceived poll examples does seem a little pedantic.
I can do nothing else, which bothers me of course, than to agree with that. It seems like a major waste of effort that can lead to a major hissy fit.
