I am facilitating a community-made list on the definitions on political terminology. In example, party names, coined terms for recent bills, political acts that have nicknames like grafting or embezzling (I'll add those two), etc, etc.

The second list is a triage of commonly known facts among followers of politics that are useful or required to have an understanding of present day politics.

If you need more clarification then you need to be more specific on what needs to be clarified.

I think you misunderstand the nature of the politics board here @ Scify. It's purpose is to allow politically ignorant individuals and political lapdogs to spew vitriolic hatred towards their favorite targets. When challenged they simply complain to particular mods and get the challengers banned.

This is a soundoff board for joespistole, tiassa, bells, and a few others. These particular individuals couldn't smell shit if it was under their noses.

While your attempts at an honest search for political definitions are noble, it wouldn't take long for the extreme poverty of knowledge that exists for most here to surface.

For proof, simply go through some old threads as well as some current threads. In the current threads, the above mentioned have been getting hammered by some that are on the same side. Yet, those individuals doing the hammering have now been labeled by the elite mentioned as flaming rightwingers.

Your search for political definitions will be bastardized so as channel arguments in a particular direction.

Your response to this post will determine which way you fall, if you choose to respond. But once you have responded, you will either be a friend to the elite mentioned or you will be labeled a radical right winger, irrespective or not of whether the label is accurate.

I think you fail to see how our government actually works. I will give one example.

Republicans and Democrats take turns at the soundboard throwing zingers at the other party but behind closed doors with the cameras off they're all best buddies. It's called POLITICS.

Bottom line it costs hundreds of millions to get elected to a seat of real power in America. This is called "laying your roots"... this is your base as a politician because THEY financed your election.

Politics is like tap dancing. Or like Hollywood "the best screenplays don't always become movies and most movies don't come from the best screenplays".

Open up the question a little bit more and you'll get a better response. When I OP I present as much info and assumptions I have then let the vultures loose to rip my OP to shreads. Somehow, someway we all learn something in the process.

As far as "the elite" on this board- yeah- there is an elite. I may or may not qualify for it by virtue of being here for a year or two and survived.

The elite is made up of clearly thinking minds who believe in intelligent posting. Not such a bad thing and it's easy to become an elite- CONTRIBUTE to the forum, don't just one line it then link it to something.

Think up new ideas and present them to the forum in raw form. Add your thoughts to the continuum.

    @ John T. Galt
I am just opening up an opportunity for people to suggest terms. The purpose of this thread is to create an ever-growing list of lingo used in the political world. Anybody could then read this post and learn how to express themselves and refer to things with less words.

I believe in constant education; that we are constantly learning new things. This is simply going to be a -- Okay, I found out a better way to describe it: Glossary.

    @ jmpet
Forgive me if I misunderstood you, but this is not a post for any personal opinion. I plan on updating to OP based on contributions of other members to create a living, growing document...basically a "Political Dictionary." This is entirely objective material.

In this case, I do not like that. I guess my plans for this thread have been stunted.
