Note: this forum is like most public forums, not worth your time. Be good to yourselves and leave this place.

Lots of them out there. Here are a couple I peruse virtually every day. I see and hear plenty of the "in cahoots with big money" TV, radio and newspaper so my web based news sites are preferred as those that give me a different perspective without all the commercial advertising. Sure I listen to NPR and especially Pacifica radio but I also catch ABC, seems the best of the main stream but still quite biased to protect the guilty ;) I got a couple more I peruse that I may post laters. Got any suggestions?

http://www.antiwar.com

and

http://www.buzzflash.com

I might add that I get a healthy dose of Fox, CBS, NBC and sports too at my job.

Well, with that list you might as well include truthout.org, moveon.org, and democraticunderground.com (currently featuring a nice picture of Bill O'Reilly in a Nazi uniform), all of which have a similar political bent and about the same level of objectivity and truthfulness as the two you mentioned.

If you're interested I have a similar list of ultra-conservative web sites. My guess is you won't be. Not putting you down (hey, whatever floats your boat), just saving myself a little time, as I was just about to run out the door. :-)

Mmmm, thanks for making this a sticky, mod. I think the title would be better as "Progressive News Sites" as that is more apt. If you could change that too, it would be appreciated. I sent a message to emp to let him know this is happening.

Let's leave the title as is for now so we can draw sites from both "sides".

Ok, just a few to get us started. I'm not a good resource on this but maybe someone else can chime in. That's a great list you posted up there, by the way. Fun stuff!

By the way, should we make a list of centrist/moderacy sites? I'm know some good ones. Also how would you categorize something like the Cato Institute? It's libertarian....

Conservative Sites:

News Max
http://www.newsmax.com/

National Review
http://www.nationalreview.com/

Ann Coulter
http://www.anncoulter.org/

Bill O'Reilly
http://www.billoreilly.com/index.jsp
(Personally I see Bill O'Reilly as independent and moderate, but we'll stick him in here for now; god knows he's no liberal.)

Media Research Center
http://www.mediaresearch.org/

The Wall Street Journal (Editorials Page)
http://www.opinionjournal.com/
(Should this really be here? It's a more objective source, but still fairly clearly slanted towards the right. But if we include them here then we should put the New York and LA Times sites on the liberal list.)

The Eagle Forum
http://www.eagleforum.org/
(Not a discussion forum like it sounds. This is a pro-family conservative watchdog group with a PAC and an address in the beltway.)

Rush Limbaugh
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/

Sean Hannity
http://www.hannity.com/

I'll see if I can scare up some more.

You won't find this news on TV.

I think you will find a great deal of info here. There iare sections on Bush, 9/11 & Iraq too.

I was looking for the most appropriate place to post a link to an article that just scares the shit out me I read on the Guardian site this evening. I didnt look far for the best place to post after all, so whether this is the most appropriate place to paste, I cant say. Im doing it anyways.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/afghanistan/story/0,1284,1440836,00.html

As a footnote, this forum not just like any other public forum out there, and it certainly isnt a waste of time posting here. There are some incredible minds contributing to this site. If a person cant learn or gain anything on this site, maybe they belong in another world, in a higher place at least. If youre such a person please smile down on us and then welcome us generously when we arrive. We will arrive.

I don't think this is the right place for this either, but I must respond. The last paragraph of that article sums up the current state of affairs in the U.S. nicely. The really sad part is that we Americans know it's happening (at least we can know that it is happening), yet we can't or won't stop it, short of decline, destruction or maybe even obliteration this time.

Here is part of the last paragraph of Vossist Arts' Guardian article:

The US army came to Afghanistan as liberators and now are feared as governors, judges and jailers. How many US marines know what James Madison, an architect of the US constitution, wrote in 1788? Reflecting on the War of Independence in which Americans were arbitrarily arrested and detained without trial by British forces, Madison concluded that the "accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive and judiciary, in the same hands may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny."

How abouit the fact that no one gives a accurate number of Israls who are killed in a nice little truthfull graph, I just spent a hour finding the numbers, The Israels have lost 2985 people since 2000, to Palistinan sucide attack, rocket attacks, and assassinations, the chart dosn't give the true figures of Israels losses, and when you take the Israeli percentage of loss's per pouplation they are lossing more people than the Palistinan are, lets look at this in perspective.

Koffi Anan now blasting the Bush admin. Why did he have to wait all this while to tell us what some of us already know? Does he think he is doing any justice now or is he trying to leave some kind of foolish legacy? He was there when the United States carried out all they wanted to do in the Mid East for the past 5 years, but he didn't say anything or criticize...not a word. Now that he is about to leave he thinks he is doing us a favour. He syphoned a lot from the U.N and didn't even do Jack about Dafur. The UN could do better...please
