[Autumn of 2001]
It’s cold and I’m sneezing hard.
Couldn’t cross the street without being smashed,
Couldn’t start my work without being blown up.
Problems and skyscrapers falling on my head,
The end of summer,
The destruction of mighty empire and nation proud;
All what was thought to be secure and saint,
Is now in ruins lying.

Hands of the dead reaching for help,
Asking to be saved,
Asking for impossible.
And those few who survived are crying for death,
Their life is ruined and dreams are lost,
My life has changed; our world is different,
And of course this damn cold I caught,
Autumn of 2001!

Avatar, are you Latvian or Russian? Were these poems originally in another language? In the 11th grade? How long have you been writing poetry? By the way one of my poems was published in the "Avatar", a literary journal for a junior (2 year) college in California.

I am Latvian and I wrote this poem in English on 2001/09/11, after watching BBC news.
I have been writing poetry since 08/2001.
I didn't know such a journal existed and it doesn't in any way relate to the choice of my nick.

I know, but it is a funny coincidence, don't you think?
