Use the left for information and the right for functions.

Your idea that the left is the poster and right is the post is true but that doesn't offer optimum utility.

And it's seriously bugging me that I have to look in two places for the information I want to see at a glance.

Please, please put the time back.

Ah ha, I've discovered how to put the time back on the left.

The Ignore List items are shown with the date and time on the left. So all I have to do is put everyone on my ignore list.
