Smithsonian magazine came up with a list of several places everyone should see before they die.
I've never even heard of Pagan or Iguazu Falls, but now I want to go there in the worst way. Anyone ever been there?

I was happy to see that 3 of these items I can see here in the US. There would be no excuse for me not to.

    Portals into the Past
    – Mesa Verde
    – Pompeii
    – Tikal
    – Petra

    Feats of Engineering
    – Pyramids of Giza
    – Taj Mahal
    – Easter Island
    – The Great Wall

    A Matter of Timing
    – Aurora Borealis
    – Serengeti
    – Iguazu Falls
    – Machu Picchu

    Triumphs of Vision
    – The Louvre
    – Zen Garden of Kyoto
    – Uffizi Gallery
    – Fallingwater

    Scale New Heights
    – Yangtze River
    – Antarctica
    – Mount Kilimanjaro
    – Grand Canyon

    In the Presence of Gods
    – Pagan
    – Parthenon
    – Angkor Wat
    – Ephesus

    Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?
    – Venice
    – Amazon Rain Forest
    – Great Barrier Reef
    – Galápagos Islands

Those would be great places to visit if everyone had the time and money. However in todays world that's not possible for the majority of people so they, as I , use the internet to view those places. Many of them have web cams to see them in real time or at least links to them. Here's just one example of where I go to visit online because I can't get to all thses places in my lifetime but am happy that this is available to me at least.

I do hope that you can visit the ones that interest you, see you there!

I also wonder how safe it is to visit some of those places, what with the worlds political climate and all.

Canadian wilderness...hmmm, I guess being to the Tetons and Glacier Natl Park are good enough for me.

I tell everyone to go to Thermopolis WY. The redwoods in Northern CA are amazing as well. I've never been to the Grand Canyon, but have never really been that interested.

I've read that somewhere in the UK there are whirlpools in the ocean. I'd like to see those.

I've been to Pompeii, it's massive....when you look at photos and read about it you'd think it was a couple of streets, but it's HUGE and they haven't even finished unearthing it yet. All the rude Roman graffiti is still on the walls too. They have casts of the dead townspeople which is pretty fucked up, plus if you're out there for the day you can go up Vesuvius, which is awe inspiring but smells of farts.
