    What makes an animal piebald? I've seen piebald horses, but never piebald deer. Is it latent albinism?

    I would think in most cases it helps camouflage themselves within their environment.

    Deer in texas are bread with Holsteins (dairy cows) so they get bigger and taste better with cookies.

    Whitetail fawns are mottled - the genetics are there for mottling via neoteny.
