Australia's population is concentrated entirely along the coast.

This is the case with quite a few countries, including Canada and Russia, where the far north is almost completely empty because of the severe cold, or China and Mongolia, where the deserts are mostly empty.

nah, it is obviously a photochop cause you would never get a cloudless world.
