View Full Version : Phobias - Choose Yours

I have a fear, a deep seeded one, of spiders. It's more commonly referred to as Arachnophobia ^_0_^ <--- spider...

Anyway what is your Phobia. I'm going to give you a list to a comprehensive collection of phobias:

http://www.phobialist.com/

Just do a search for whatever it is you're afraid of, keep in mind this would've been much to long for a poll (thus no poll here). For all my poll fans out there I won't stop them but this is just to taunting...

I'd say I have a fear of the following in addition to Arachnophobia:

Eremophobia- Fear of being oneself or of lonliness.
Caligynephobia- Fear of beautiful women.
Venustraphobia- Fear of beautiful women.
Gynephobia or Gynophobia- Fear of women.
Anuptaphobia- Fear of staying single.
Cynophobia- Fear of dogs or rabies.
Didaskaleinophobia- Fear of going to school.
Scolionophobia- Fear of school.
Cancerophobia or Carcinophobia- Fear of cancer.
Fear of homelessness - could not find term

I 'choose' none.

Besides, they are simple enough to 'heal' these days.
Desensitization therapy is very successful..

Desenitization therapy is successful? Try telling that to me when you poor 1,000 spiders all over me inside of a tank! Better yet tell yourself that when I do it to you!!!

I think everyone has phobias, and I doubt you lack them... consider the list.

why bother giving different fears scientific names like there all so different?

it seems pointless to me, if your scared of something then your scared of something, and how can you be scared of beautiful women are you crazy?

isnt it more likely you are scared to talk to them because you think they will reject you or not like you in return and you compare yourself to them?

not your actualy scared of them like you would be scared of a lion right? or a spider haha.

just playing,,,,but seriously.

Lies! That's impossible!

not true. and its also a cool quote from 300, i dont have any seeded fears wich ever bother me, but i do feel what humans call "bieng scared" at certain times, fear helps us survive in deadly situations, fight or flight,

but apart from a hightend sense of my "senses" adrenaline and energy rises, i have no real fears.

i feel sad about things and wish things were different sometimes, but i do not "fear" anything,

peace.

You merely try to justify your lack of dealing with your own phobias with the lame excuse that "everyone does it".
If everyone jumped off the cliff...?
No 'everyone does not have the same 'illness' that you might. Accept your lot or attempt to heal. The choice is yours.. But justification, as you have attempted, is meaningless excuse to do nothing but enjoy your 'phobias'.
Your list is meaningless to those beyond 'fear'.

That's not how it works. First, we will show you some pictures of spiders.

After a few trials, we will show you aquariums with spiders in them.

Next, we will put a spider on the table, right in front of you.

Then, we will let you touch the spider.

Next, we will let the spider touch you.

Then, we will put the spider on you.

After that, we will put a few spiders on you.

Once you get comfortable with ~100 spiders, you will not know the difference with 1,000. You will not react to the situation at all. You may even enjoy the "newness" of it, or revel in your bravery.

Welcome to desensitization. A method that always works if you go slowly enough, and take enough baby-steps. It only fails when therapists can't conceptualize enough "steps", or when they get impatient.

No it's not.
I am living proof that it is not, and I am not the only one.
