Do you agree that family affect
the development of personality the most?
And is it possible to change one's personality?

Not necessarily. I believe you can acquire personality traits from your environment and surroundings. If you are never home then your family isn't really influencing your personality development. And then mix into the equation the fact that people do not "find themselves" until much later in life. Sure the first 18 years or so of your life are spent under your parents roof. But some people don't figure out who they are until 20, 25 even later (also known as a midlife crisis). Yes it is possible to change ones personality, but like I said, only up until the point where they figure out who they are.

Yes and no. If you change your personality you would be acting.

I think that certain personality qualities are with you when you are born, but those are shaped by your surroudings

as bowlby once said, your childhood is the building blocks of a persons persona.
its a great psychological discusion point, theres alot of proof to say your personality if effected by you primary caregiver, for instance,a child brought up with nannys tends to have a significantly higher IQ later in life than one brought up with a mother there 24/7.
my mum often says im turning into my dad, i think we may imitate, authoritive figures in your life, which is why alot of people tend to grow up with verysimilar personalitys to parents or caregivers.

    hey jesse

what affects a person most would differ from person to person.surroundings.environment , education, family and so on. all to varying degrees.yes it is possible to change your personality.if your personality includes what you would choose in the face of values and alternatives.as you learn what is truly for you and against you.anything that adds to your happiness, production and survival are good,as long as it doesnt forcibly intefere with others.anything that destoys your life is bad or evil.when you finally come to the conviction that existence exists, that your highest moral purpose is your own self esteem, which is crucial for continued existence on earth, then you will learn that reason is your only tool of survival.when yo come to this you will realize that you become the greatest influence on your life.never allow anothers consciousness to become middle man between your consciousness and existence.never except anything on faith.it is only faith that can beleive in nothing.the greatsest evil is to not think for one self.and never listen to any body who does not love theyre own existence and are not proud that they want to live

One's personality is constantly changed by one's experiences. For example: those who survive a war are often hardened by it. Such changes happen on a smaller scale as well.

The family merely sets the foundation for one's personality. You still build onto it once you leave your family.

Generally temperment is fundamental, after that "familiy" is the biggest contributor. Small children learn SO much social stuff from their parents and those close to them.
Yes but it could cost you everything (if you see my meaning). It's not easy and I'm not sure you can change your temperment without drugs. You cannot however, completely sever yourself from your past...well, almost nobody could anyway. I'm sure it's possible, but wow...

depending on your genetic makeup different parts of your brain can be more active. But i believe that when a child is boprn it is a blank canvas. There has been research done suggesting that your personality or atleast future personality is almost completly defined within the first 3 - 4 months of birth therefore almost entirly by family. But a great deal of change goes on after this up until the begining of adult hood and even the rest of your life. And yes people certainly can change their personality since it is only genetic in a small way the ways we have learnt to be are constantly being revised by our minds especially our sub-conscous and addapted by our experiences and to our lives, in the same way that our muscles can become better at certain types of activities/movements. Often however it takes big emotionally altering experiences, for instance no one can percieve and react to things in the same way after coming back from a war etc.
