im going to start here because i dont even know what to put in the title right now. The catholic church is about to cellibrate world youth day with the pope in sydney soon (this week or next im pritty sure, soon enough that mum has kids staying with her from france to go to it anyway). This is the first of two threads im posting today on the events surounding it. The other one will be on the draconian laws that have been put in place which have an effect of limiting protest on the actions of the church. This thread however could be concidered an offshoot of a debate that is raging here but its just an unhappy coincidence. Recently across the world there has been a lot of pedophila claims made against the catholic church. This time however it was a 28 year old man who was sexually assulted by a priest. This is a transcript of a late line interview with the man who was sexually assulted I dont know what happened with the court case but i do know that the church did its own investigation into the case and it sustained the case. However when the report fell on the desk of Cardinal George Pell he wrote a letter saying that there was no evidence to surport the case compleatly contricticing his OWN investigation. He also wrote that there were no other cases against this priest when the SAME DAY he wrote another letter sustaining an abuse complaint to another person. In my back ground for this thread i also came across a rape case by a 16 year old girl against the same priest. A police intercept confirms the mans story because the priest ADMITS that the action wasnt concentual. slight update, the priest was convicted of indecent assult but didnt spend any time in prision for it
