and in youth, having a low testosterone level and being a male, this can have an effect on sexual behavior later on in life as an adult because the developing child's brain is very susceptible to hormones. Sometimes this can have the effect of altering a persons sexual orientation. Part of this is supported by my lost article about how the alpha male will confront other males and determine hormone levels - this can lead to confrontations to determine who is the alpha male or who is higher in the pecking order. This is why males with older brothers are more likely to be gay. Left handed males do not share this same statistical probability because the dominant side of their brains view relationships more as a set of rules, and less about dominance. This is also why men raised without an adult male in the house often exhibit different social behavior then males raised with adult males, on the average.
Furthermore, the reason that on rare occasions, identical twins raised in the same household may have different sexual orientations, is because the nature of the twins relationship and many relationships is one is higher in the pecking order then the other, therefore arbitrary chance may have determined who was gay in some twins relationships - once one was higher in the pecking order, the difference accelerated. There is much evidence to say that twins in different households turn out more similar then those raised together.

Sorry, can't buy any of this. On top of that, everything seems to indicate that that the true state of affairs is precisely the reverse of what you stated in your title.

Oh, that's a convincing argument Light. Can you be a little more specific?

Certainly. A higher testosterone level generally equates to more aggressive behavior and more muscle mass. An individual who is more aggresive and is more musclar is going to rise in pecking order. So your title "Pecking order determines amount of Testosterone" has cause and effect totally reversed.

In that, you're partially right. It should be: pecking order can change the amount of testosterone. The facts are reinforcing and not mutually exclusive.

i have been taking dhea... and it directly results in a higher testosterone levels.
and i cant say it makes me more agreesive.. it doesnt.
but it makes me feel like a bigger... stronger dog...

as if i go from chiwahwa... to a great dane...

and i am sure.. convinced that tetosterone levels do effect a mans.. manliness.

its doesnt make me more violent... but it makes violence seem more fun and easy.

fear is way down... confidence is way up.... and my desire to lift weights... heavy weights is way up.

    it does make a difference.

i would say... testosterone levels... determines ones drive to gain position in the pecking order.....

    not the other way around.

I always thought that sexual preference was due to having a refined as opposed to poor taste, for example same-gender attractions being superior and evolved to their more primitive heterosexual counterparts.

Does a fine taste in music, like say, classical as opposed to rap, also find its origin in testosterone-levels and pecking orders?
