it is obvious that we will need more than tax cuts to pay for the war. Here is an idea with great merit
This looks to be a winner. It works for NASCAR and sports stadiums. I wonder who will sponsor Air Force One? I guess we can rule out Enron, but hey, how about professiomal wrestling as a sponsor for the big plane, it is as realistic some of our current political concepts
I saw that picture a couple of weeks ago and had the same idea. Each squadon or unit could have it's own corporate sponsors. Almost seriously though, to pay for the war we should tax the Iraqi oil. We could call it a "liberation" tax. We should also see Iraq pay it's debt to Russia and other nations, excluding France and Germany, via the liberation tax. With the lifting of the Iraqi enbargo, the Iraqis should also be able to get an increase in oil income.
Brilliant, SuperFudd! Nobody will confuse that with imperialism! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! ...but if they do we can always kill them :bugeye:
SuperFudd I am sure that our vice president would appreciate the liberation tax. Iraq still owes Haliburton 40 million.
Or we could tax college students who don't maintain an A average. We could afford several more wars that way. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
According to "60 minutes" tonight Saddam made at least 2.5 Billion (with a B) dollars last year alone, mostly from his people's oil. After the liberation, that drain on the countries wealth will go away. If we can find the many Billion$ that Saddam has stashed away, it would be a good start on paying Iraq's debt. By the way, "60 minutes" also indicated that the ownership of Car & Driver and other US magazines can be traced back to Saddam. I considered boycoting those magazines but it will all be over soon so why bother.
It appears Saddam has a US$90 Million -- about 2% ownership -- interest, via an Iraqi company, in the French parent company whose US subsidiary publishes Car & Driver. And apparently it's been known about for about 10 years -- even longer by the French. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
The wealthy residents of oil rich countries invest heavily in the USA. During an interview with Barbara Walters the brother of Osama stated that he had increased his wealth by investing in Citicorp.
Maybe they should take over the American Media. It would be so easy for a county with money to take over the USA given time. All you'd have to do is buy the media... wait didn't israel do that already...? my bad.
or we could get all youse people so in favor of a war to pick up an M-16, and go over there and do your thing! Of course being that your so much in favor of this thing you'd all be willing to do it for free! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
"It appears Saddam has a US$90 Million..." Yes, but don't forget he had a sizeable tax-cut package, and we all know how such things work miracles for the economy. Bush's economic wizards had better work some overtime on this conundrum.
Depending on the the outcome the war - it will cost every American man woman and child between $2,000 amd $20,000. For those that pay with their lives - priceless.
Don, I want to thank you. That's my next AmericanWarExpress protest sign. I hope you aren't an attorney wanting royalties.
