    Congrats to the Pakistan team!

The death of Bob Woolmer, the attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore, as well as the continued strife in Pakistan (and surrounding areas) - some good news for the country and its people.

Congratulation, Ghost! I never watch cricket match (it isn't popular in my country), but knows a lot of friends in Germany who are crazy about cricket and who dragged me to play with them sometimes.

    Well done, Pakistan cricket team!

The highlights should be up on the BBC website shortly. The highlights only take about 10 minutes. The 20/20 format of the game is very short, only takes a few hours and is very attacking. You never know, you might enjoy it!

    Hi, too, Ghost ;]

Last week (Saturday, 13th June), I went to watch Japan-tag (Japan day) in Düsseldorf. While I watched this concert (was around 8 PM German time), an unknown guy (with ear phone) next to me suddenly screaming & cheering out loud. I asked, "was ist los, man?:bugeye:". The guy (who I assume Pakistani) replied "Pakistan win! Pakistan win! New Zealand out" something like that. Now I understand. It's gotta be the cricket match?

lol! Yeh, we had to beat New Zealand in a must win game. Pakistan had a slow start to the tournament, lost 2 games and were almost out but won every game from then onwards. That guy who was shouting must be loving it now!

Pakistaaan Zindabaaaad!!!! Shahid Afrida aur Kamran Akmal cha gaeye. When Pakistani cricket team won the world cup, the first thing they did was go down in Sujood. We should be thankful, Allah swt has given us this victory today. Blessings to Pakistan today, and for years to come. Alhamdulilah.

Is the ball always successfully retrieved, when somebody like Afridi hits it clear out of the stadium like that?

They show video of kids chasing down a couple of his sixes in the car parking lot - that doesn't look like official ball retrieval. (In US baseball, the fans can keep the baseballs they catch).

The World Cup? :bugeye: They won a world cup, viz the Twenty20 World Cup. Good on 'em, but let's face it - Twenty20 means very little.

It's a lottery and doesn't really test the cricket playing ability of a team like the other versions of the game. (Although it certainly has become a big money earner for many players.)

Incidentally, I was at the MCG when Pakistan won the real World Cup (ie. the 50 over game) in 1992. That was a magical game with the best atmosphere of any cricket game I've ever been to.

(It's always good to see the English get beaten!)

Nothing beats Javed Miandad hitting a six on the last ball of the last over in the Sharjah cup in 1986.
