All the kits attempt to do on a normal CD is stop refraction caused by scratches in the plastic. I'm not entirely sure if the Playstation discs use the same metalic sheet system on a normal CD, however I would guess that their is a protective layer of plastic. Perhaps is just a different colour plastic than transparent plastic and only allows a certain wavelength to penetrate as aposed to normal CD-R lazers.

So I would guess that the repair kit should work, as long as you haven't "dented" the CD from Above (Like using it as a coaster etc)
