let me introduce you to the end... the end of criminality surrounding marijuana... the mary jane... tha ganga maah'n... the beginning of the return to the sanity man once possessed... do you promote crime by making something illegal? yes... unfortunately, if the public wants it... they'll have it... anyone remember reading about prohibition in history class? well... go figure.. the government figured... can't beat em... join em... and tax their asses to death!!!

pot was decriminalized in Canada on May 29th, 2003... proving once again... Canadians are different... one small leap for man... one giant leap for mankind... haha... seriously... i am truly proud to be canadian right now... before you anti-drug activists pop your lids... i don't care what you think... haha... it's a done deal! ok, that was childish but think about this... if you get caught with 15 grams of p.o.t. you now receive between a $100 and $400 fine... instead of doing up to 3 years in jail... good idea? yep... for sure...

before you freak out... listen carefully why i believe this law and the future total legalization of pot is a damn good idea...

i don't know if any of you heard... but several weeks ago a little girl named Holly Jones' body was found (May 13), a 10-year-old West End Toronto, Canada resident, was brutally murdered. She had been sexually assaulted and her body was later found on the nearby Toronto lake shore in 2 separate duffle bags. Police are still searching for suspects, and no arrests have been made. Yes folks, 2 separate bags contained the remains of that 10 year old girl... it is a sad sad thing to be a child... and have no one protect you...

even worse still, her parents later found out through local media investigation that their street was the primary point of release for sex offenders being released from jails all over Canada... over 250 have been identified in that particular area, due to the massive quantities of half-way houses built there by the correctional department of Canada to accommodate these scum of the earth... the parents and residents are NEVER notified in order to protect the rights of the now reformed (whatever) or released sex offender... being "reformed" is an extremely relative term... they don't have special programs to rehabilitate sex offenders in Canada and in many U.S. states... ergo... they are not rehabilitated from their disease... they are reformed due to time served and later rejected from the correctional system into our communities...

all that to say... why should a pot smoker take up space in an already over crowded jail cell that a pedophile and/or violent criminal offender could occupy? we are not allowed to kill them (which i totally disagree with, but i digress) so letting them rot in jail on our tax dollars is not such a bad trade-off when you hear stories like Holly's, correct?

pot is not legal for one reason and one only people.. it is too difficult for government to profit from... they can't legalize it because they know that no one in their right mind is going to buy a "pack" of pot joints (like cigarettes) for oh let's say $40 when they can grow the whole damn plant in their backyard for free... alcohol is easy to regulate for the purpose of taxation... pot is an accountants worst nightmare... people will benefit but the community will NOT, financially.. hell they let us consume enough alcohol and tobacco our little hearts desire... but smoke and joint and you're labelled the anti-christ... i don't get it..

even major pot abusers are nothing compared to an alcoholic... alcohol kills thousands upon thousands of people... yes, if a pot smoker gets behind the wheel, they too, should go to jail... but if they are smokin a reefer in their basement with their buddies, are they really a criminal? i don't think so but that is my opinion... you don't have to drink just because it is legal, right? so why would legalizing pot make you believe you would HAVE to smoke it?

and talk about detering CRIME? hahaha... all you pushers would be out of a job!!! that is hysterical... no more middle man if pot is legalized... and the government can't touch your hard earned money... that is why pot is deemed a "controlled" substance... it is controlled by the scuzzbags on the streets... but it's smoked by your everyday average joe... just like booze is consumed... so if we make our own alcohol at home why not make our own homegrown weed?

just because owning a gun is legal (when it's registered yada yada yada) does not mean i will go out and buy one... but if i wanted to, or needed to, it wouldn't HAVE to be a shady deal going down in the park...

For the canadians reading this... signing this petition will change laws... do it... please, for Holly and all the other innocent childrens' sake... we have to instigate change...

    hollyslaw.ca

Holly's Law would require sexual offenders convicted of crimes against children to undergo a "dangerous offender" evaluation before becoming eligible for release. It would also mandate that treatment — which is not currently available to all convicted sex offenders — be made available to inmates. Holly's Law organizer Pat Hood explains: "This law will be a legacy for Holly, and will help protect innocent children from dangerous criminals. This is the first step to make sure our streets are safe for our children. We need to focus our anger to make sure this doesn’t happen again."

A year ago I would have been very angry. But now..I'm kinda pleased. I haven't done any reefer, so it means little to my record. Just the fact that Canada is such a great country, free and open(well, in comparison to the US

), with a government that does it's own thing. Regardless.

So I'm happy. Hopefully they'll tackle something bigger next. Honestly, this change of law shouldn't be a big deal. The luddites just made it one, thats all.

But seriously, why is messing up everything (like killing brain cells and your liver) sooooo fun? Sure you get a little trippy but is it worth it?

You're proud to be Canadian only because you can now fuck up your mind as you want, when you want, legally?

I like the new legislation, but not because I want to smoke marijuana (I have never done that, and will never), but because I firmly believe it is a personal decision and not a government decision. It does not affect how I feel about myself as a Canadian though.

-Marachino (sp?) cherries give you cancer
-Pop makes you obese, causes deterioration of the teeth. The high concentration of sugar is *instantly* absorbed. More dangerous than alcohol or marij.
-slurpees will cause insuling levels to skyrocket, leading to diabetees
-watching TV causes your brain to slag, and your vision to deteriorate. It is EXTREMELY harmful to your mental health.

    And the list goes on...

Are you gonna get sick worrying bout your health?

Why do we do any of those things? As far I know, I could probably die tomorrow. And it wouldn't matter then if I spent my life hiding under a rock or enjoying life to a reasonable extent. Less reasonable for others. And then for some, endangering the lives of innocents. Prohibition does that since it's not about protecting the populace, but rather ignoring global problems that they find hard to deal with. This is probably the most reasonable decision any Chretien government has ever made. And they've made a lot of shitty decisions:

No. I just threw that up there because no one was posting. I hoped it would get someone talking. But canned food really gives you breasts?

    Lies! lies!!!
    *hugs tv*
Being fed tonnes of information is harmful to your mental health?
    Yeah right...
TV is litterally about 80 000 times better for your brain than school IMO.
Video games aren't bad either, I wish there was a break in quality programming so I could get a chance to play them

I agree. Everybody always gets mad at the games, but they highten hand-eye coordination. It worked for me, at least.

It's true -- the 'stabilizer' in canned foods acts in a way similar to estrogen, eventually leading to breast development and is just one of the causes of femininity in older men. Although, there are also similar stabilizers (natural) in flax bread and things like that.

And about TV... I hate to say it, but it really is true. No amount of it, no program (educational or not,) is beneficial. It's harmful. I seriously hope you're joking about the school thing, though :bugeye:

In many way I agree.. video games can be awesome for your brain. Too many -well, you know what I mean

We've all had our bouts with the clock. And not only that, but they make a great centerpiece for social functions.

The only problem I have with video games is that too many are just plain bad for your hygiene.

    BTW::
I've done all of these 'dangerous' things mentioned above (except for mj). I try to avoid some, like growing breasts.. but normally I'll just worry about enjoying life and getting the proper exercise. And I'm in perfect physical condition. So no worries, right
