Unfortunately, the Australian departure from the evaporating Coalition of the Willing is getting short shrift in major US media. It's a pity, because the reasons are sound food for thought for USAmericans.
Thank you, Oz service members, for your honorable service! Thank you for making today's Iraq situationally possible for your defensible exit. Thank you.
Thank you, citizens of Oz, for allowing your best to honorably account for the rest of you, once again.
Its called deserting a sinking ship , America is going down big time , Australia knows the grass is greener with the European Union .
You're exagerating. Even if what you said were true, then Australia would be pulled under with the sinking ship that is the USA. For better or worse, if the nation that consumes 1/4 of the world's goods disappears, there won't be much of a global economy for a long time afterwords. Don't fool yourself that such bastions of morality like China won't be quick to fill the void with their imperialistic agenda. ~String
Really, If the reasons were sound, we'd never leave. Sure, we disagreed with your methods in fighting communism (Mcarthyism). but we still went to vietnam. But we, like you, wouldn't fight an unjust war.
The EU has more than 200,000,000 million people more than the USA. It should sub-plant the US in most of these categories. And as to your claim about the Euro surpassing the Dollar, that's a lie: Currency Reserves. Lastly, I know you're wishful thinking, but how is the USA going into a downfall? What is this downfall that won't suck the rest of the world in with it and how will it happen? When? Do you have a date, or is this more dream-spouting of yours? Fact is, the USA is and should be surpassed by the likes of the EU and soon, China. The presence of more global superpowers will -- both -- balance the global views out more and share the global policing burdens in a way that makes everybody happy. The USA isn't going anywhere soon and when it does, it will be more a cause of regional unification (can you say Amero?) than anything else. ~String
Short shrift? You don't know the half of it. The Washington Post, the most leftist newspaper in the world that doesn't have a hammer and sickle on the masthead, ran a lead editorial Sunday telling us how well the war in Iraq is going! Apparently the administration thinks the time is right for a propaganda campaign, so they got all our military leaders to come up with some statistics and anecdotes to convince us that this time they're not kidding and we've turned the corner in Iraq. (Where's that old "Mission Accomplished" banner when we need it?) According to them the Iraqi government is stabilizing, the terrorists are losing their foothold, violence is down, hell even the rate at which our soldiers are dying is at a low point, in case anybody really cares about those poor kids. Here's the kicker: The Post actually said that Obama is going to have to come up with a new campaign tactic, because he's been running on the platform that he'll bring all the troops home and now it looks like that in January it's possible that won't be the best idea. Do you believe this crap? They're shooting down their own candidate! On the strength of a new batch of lies from The President With Pre-Senile Dementia. The Scion Of The Energy Industry. The Traitor Who Holds Hands With Saudi Despots. So no, they're not going to print a front-page article saying, "Oh by the way, the Australians have already brought their troops home."
Because you guys always show up with beer. We're not allowed to bring any. Also, redneck meet yobbo, yobbo meet redneck. Discuss.
